P0300 - random misfire , P0171 & P0174 lean code's . All of this means you could have a bad vacuum leak ,low fuel pressure ,clogged fuel filter , Mass air flow sensor problem .

SOURCE: diagonostic trouble codes reported p0171

P0171 is system too lean bank 1, P0174 is too lean bank 2, and 302 is misfire bank 1. Look for vacuum leaks. If you don't find them, put a vacuum gage on it can check. The P0171 is almost always a vacuum leak. If not other possibilities are front O2 sensor is too old and should be replaced (if mileage is greater than 100k then replace). Try injector cleaner. Misfires are usually bad spark plugs, but could possibly be caused by insufficient fuel. I've never had a car of mine in bad enough shape to have that error.

SOURCE: check engine light on,running rough code P0172

When I see all these codes i instantly think of two things. Vacuum leak especially intake manifold gaskets and Mass air flow sensors. Spray the engine with carb cleaner when its running and see if you get it to rev up,run rough or run different. Next unplug the MAF and drive the car, see if it runs normal.

SOURCE: p0171 and p0174 codes

P0171 System too Lean (Bank 1)
P0174 System too Lean (Bank 2)

If a car has a check engine light on and has P0171 and P0174 codes stored, the most likely cause is a vacuum leak. These codes are set by the car’s computer when it sees too much oxygen in the exhaust. Excessive oxygen readings in the exhaust will set lean codes. This does not mean that the oxygen sensors are defective. It is a common mistake for people to replace oxygen sensors when lean codes are present. Just because the code is related to oxygen sensor readings, it doesn’t mean that the oxygen sensors are bad. If both of these codes are stored this means that both banks of the engine have excessive oxygen in the exhaust. If the oxygen sensors are replaced it’s most likely that the same codes will reappear. It is very uncommon for two oxygen sensors to fail at the same time.

Therefore the most likely cause of P0171 and P0174 codes is a vacuum leak. The source of a vacuum leak can be one of many things. The most common cause of a vacuum leak is a leaky hose. Vacuum hoses over time can become dry and brittle. The rubber deteriorates and can leak causing a vacuum loss. Many times a leaky vacuum hose can be found by listening for a hissing sound. A large vacuum leak can even make the car run rough at idle. In some cases it will not idle without feathering the gas pedal.

SOURCE: Codes P0171, and P0174 bLean on a 98 Navigator. Any ideas?

mass air flow sensor is not the problem, I had the exact same problem and have done much research on this. Check the PVC rubber hoses, especially the elbows for cracks. You probably noticed your gas mileage has been horrible too. Hope this helps

The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the described symptoms.

Condition/Concern:
Check Engine Light with a P0300 due to 2 - 4 cylinders misfiring on the same bank of the engine. DTCs P0171, P0172, P0174 or P0175 may also set for the misfiring bank.

Recommendation/Instructions:
If the published misfire diagnostic does not isolate the cause, perform the following suggestions as necessary:

  • Perform a fuel injector balance test for all 8 cylinders. If a fuel injector concern exists, it is possible to misfuel an entire bank of the engine, causing multiple cylinders on the same bank to misfire even though the root cause is a single fuel injector.
  • Inspect O2 sensor connections on the misfiring bank for corrosion or water intrusion. If water intrusion is found on the right bank, it may be due to the AC Evaporator Condensation dripping onto the O2 sensor harness. If this condition is found, reposition and shield the harness to prevent a repeat concern and repair the connections.
  • Check for excessive exhaust backpressure using the restricted exhaust diagnosis.
  • Swap the Position 1 O2 sensors side to side to see if the misfires move to the other bank of the engine. If so, replace the O2 sensor.
Please follow this diagnosis process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.

NOTE: GM bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, NOT a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform these technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions, and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, DO NOT assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition.

Vehicle CEL is on, various codes

P0300 is a random miss fire , a vacuum leak can cause this as well as low fuel pressure ! weak fuel pump , clogged fuel filter !
DTC P0171: Fuel Trim System Lean Bank 1
DTC P0174: Fuel Trim System Lean Bank 2 These two codes are saying the PCM - engine computer is see a lean condition .
DTC P0191: Fuel Rail Pressure (FRP) Sensor Performance
Circuit/System Description
The fuel pressure sensor is located on the fuel line. The fuel pressure sensor monitors the fuel pressure in the fuel line. The fuel pump flow control module (FPCM) monitors the voltage signal from the fuel pressure sensor.

You don't say what make , model an year vehicle ! These are for GM vehicles , yours could mean something else . Except the first three , those are genaric codes , same for all makes ! So can't say what this codes are P2097, and P2099 ! Can't mean this P2097 - Post Catalyst Fuel Trim System Too Rich Bank 1
P2099 - Post Catalyst Fuel Trim System Too Rich Bank 2

2012 Nissan Versa 1.6, after idling for a about 20 minutes (or while in heavy traffic) engine starts sputtering and eventually would stall. Would no start till cooled off. The following codes come up :...

P0171 and P0174 are telling you that each cylinder bank is running too lean. P0300 is telling you there is a misfire, possibly caused by the other codes. This is why the engine is running rough.

I HAD DTC P0171 nd p0174 my truck is 1,500 5.7 engine can toy help me o n this one

the three failure codes you retrieved point to a vacuum leak from intake side of engine, check intake manifold with some engine starting fluid sprayed from outside around all sealing gaskets and if engine speed goes up or down noticably that would be your leakage area, also the mass air flow sensor being dirty would cause tthat and last a faulty fuel pump, not giving enough pressure but ok with volume amount, both p0171 and p0174 indicate a lean condition from each bank.the p0300 is random misfiring of cylinders, not one particular, it is a by-product of a lean burning condition.

2003 Ford Ranger 4x4 extended cab- diagnostics checked and got these codes- P0171, P0174, P0300, P0316. Can you tell me what they mean?

P0171------ system too lean bank#1
Po174------ system too lean bank#2
For these 2 codes, try cleaning the maf sensor (mass air flow), that is mounted in the big black hose that goes from the air filter housing to the throttle plate, if it is dirty, that will cause those 02 sensors to send a signal to the computor to lean the air fuel mixture. If cleaning it doesn't work, the sensors will probably need changing.
P0300---- Random/multiple cylinder misfire
P0316---- Cylinder misfire at start up---- first 100 revolutions.
On those 2 codes, you have to do some testing to find out why there is a misfire.
Possible causes:
dirty/malfunctioning injectors
weak coil pack
fowling spark plugs/wires
Low fuel pressure
