Cutting out when driving (glow plug light start to flash)

Get the fault code with a scanner, try clearing fault codes and see if it comes back

Check the oil and fuel pressure. Bad fuel filters..

the glow plug are used to heat the fuel on start up only, as a diesel uses compression instead of a spark (from the spark plug) have you try checking the connection on the glow plug, or changing the glow plugs themselves?

does the glow plug/coil light flash at all???? once would indicate glow plug relay fault! three times would indicate FUEL pump failure! sorry never experienced two flashes....

If I'm not mistaken in the MK4's (2000 and up vdubs) if your glow plug light is flashing there is a fault in the system you should get it service asap. It won't hurt by driving it like this but it will be harder to start on cold days/mornings.
