When i release the clutch pedal, the biting point is almost at the top of the pedal travel. i have done the handbrake test and there is no slipping so i think the actual clutch is ok
Check clutch master cylinder rod adjustment and pedal height should be just higher than brake pedal. could try and bleed system also.
most hydraulic clutch systems have high take up points, adjust master cylinder rod, check for free play at top after adjusting if all that is O.K. then clutch plate may be nearly worn out but not slipping at this stage.
If the vehicle is running a cable clutch it may just need to be adjusted up acording to the wear incurred.
if it is a hydrolic set up it will ordamatically adjust if you would like to check if your clutch is worn put the vehicle in 4th gear pull the hand brake up give it some revs like your going to take off then lit the clutch out if the car stalls your clutch is fine if it slips you are due to replce it
