  • https://itstillruns.com/remove-pan-1997-chevrolet-s10-6524056.html---this is stated for 2wd ------this is 4wd ------Pan removal is possible with the engine in the vehicle on some of the powertrain combinations it is possible, it will often require the removal or repositioning of components including, the steering linkage assembly, the forward drive axle and crossmember (4WD) and/or the engine mounts. It is a difficult and tedious task to remove the oil pan with the engine in the vehicle. The chances of contaminating the bearing surfaces or damaging other internal engine components is great. Also, working under the vehicle with the engine jacked up in the frame puts you at great risk for great personal injury. Therefore, it is desirable in most cases to remove the engine in order to gain access to the oil pan.
I imagine though, the oil pan could be changed without removing the engine even if you have to unbolt the motor mounts jack up the engine and place 2x4 pieces of wood between the block and frame to keep the engine up high enough to remove the pan.
For the complete Chilton instructions ,click here.
I might add, if there is a distributor at the rear near the firewall I would remove the cap and rotor so it dont get cracked while jacking the engine. Also, remove the bolts from the fan shroud is the fan will hit the shroud when jacking the engine and either remove the shroud or let hang free-----.courtesy of chilton

SOURCE: low oil pressure on 96 toyota 2200cc engine

The oil pump can be changed without pulling the engine.

The impressive looking thing is the balance shaft assembly. These counter-rotating shafts balance out the inherent vibration of the engine. You can remove it, as long as you do not disrupt the gear placements relationship to each other. The balance assembly is set to a specific point.

SOURCE: remove a power steering pump out of a 97 chevy suburban

For step by step instruction, you best pick up the auto repair guide.
Steering pumps, in general, are not very difficult to replace. Pay careful attention to how you take it apart. Use a camera to help you remember how things go.
You will need to remove the drive belt...it rotates all the accessory pulleys, including the steering pump.
The pump should only have two or three bolts holding it on. Make sure you have a hose clamp, or something clean, to catch the steering fluid when you remove the hose.
Make sure not to over or under tighten the hose clamps when reinstalling it. Start snug...then check for leaks, and tighten if needed.
Good Luck.

SOURCE: can i remove oil pan without removing engine 1984

Yes, you can remove the pan without removing the engine. You may have to remove anything preventing you from getting the pan out or you may have to disconnect the engine mounts and raise the engine enough to get the pan out.

How do you change the oil pump in a 1995 chevy lumina 3100

You must remove the oil pan. I do not think you can do this with the engine in the car. If you can remvove the pan from the bottom without engine removal, it would be easy. Most every engine has to be removed to fully remove the oilpan. So my solution is- remove engine, remove oilpan, remove pump, replace pump, pan, and engine.

Oil pump

If it's a 2wd model, remove the engine mount bolts and raise engine enough so you can put a 4x4 between the engine and frame mounts. Remove the oil pan and unbolt the oil pump and drop right out. If it's 4wd, you'll have to remove the engine and basically do the same thing.
