The anti theft runs through the door lock system .the first thing to check is fuses. If lock fuse is blown it will set .also ck wire harness in the door at the hinges for broken wires

SOURCE: automatic door locks

Depends on if your dakota has a factory alarm or not. if it does then i dont think you can because it would trigger the alarm and you wont be able to start the truck. If not then it may be as simple as pulling a fuse. Search the web for a fuse chart and see what you find.

SOURCE: 1997 dodge dakota signal/hazard problem

This vehicle has what is known as a flasher unit, it is a relay assembly under the dash. This is the relay that clicks when your signals are on. it may need to be replaced. Another possible trouble spot could be the wiring in the steering column. Are there any other issues with horn, cruise etc.
Check the flasher first and get back to me.

Security system

These are easy systems. Lock down the truck. Open the door with the key. Doesn't work on the drivers side, lock it, unlock the passenger side, then reach in to unlock the drivers side. Still no start? look under the driver side for an after market security system. Remove it and repair wires as you go. Still no start after this, Have the codes read. Could be both door latches are bad or the BCM?security.

My 1997 Dodge Dakota will not start. It will turn over but will not start. I have replaced plugs, plug wires, distributor cap and rotor, Timing chain, Coil and the crankshaft sensor. I turned the key to...

your fuel pump may not be supplying the correct amount of pressure, this is pretty much a trait of Dodge, it will click and make noise, but the pressure just isn't there, spray some starter fluid into the air cleaner system, and turn it over, if it starts this is your problem

You can purchase R134a cans with a built in gauge so you don't overcharge... Assuming the system has not completely discharged, usually a can or less will do. Here is a link with some basic instructions:
