You ignition key has a chip in it and there is a chip in the ignition switch in the steering wheel. If either chip has gone defective you will get a shut down snd the anti theft message. If you have another key, try it. If you get the same message thern the problem is in the steering column. If you cannot check it or know how to repair it then have it brought to a reputable repair shop and have them check it out and if it is in the column, have them repair it.

if the vehicle starts then stops and the anti-theft light is flahing you may need to re-set the pass-key system to do this you will need to atempt to start the vehicle and when it stalls leave the key in that position and watch the anti-theft light. it should flash on and off for about 5 to 10 minutes. when it stops flahing turn the ignition to off then try to restart your vehicle

umm if partyd solution did not work? then its the igniton switch burnt up. i had the same problem on my 2008 pontiac torrent gxp with about 16,000 miles on it! if its still in there stuck on acc position then that would leave your radio ect. on killing the battery i reccomend taking it to the closest gm dealership and get it replaced under warrenty!! if they do not have the part theyll order it and loan you a rental!! thanks!!

no but what you have bad is your remote start brain box that is triggering the anti theft. i suggest taking to a auto electronic place for servicing or stop using remote start.

If you key has a chip in it there is a chance it may be damaged. If it doesnt the turn key assembly may have gone bad. I would recommend you take it to your nearest Pontiac dealer and let them look at it. Because if its the key you will have to take it to the dealer to get a new one and if its the key assembly you could get the part cheaper at autozone or someplace like that but you will still have to take the car to dealer to have them reprogram the computer for the new assembly.
