Memorandum phase 2 2017
I think you need new ignition switch. not the whole ignition, but switch which is mounted to the back of the ignition cylinder. its a round white portion of the switch that has wires coming out of it and its attached to the ignition switch assembly. that white switch portion is what gives starter power to turn.

Try putting the car in neutral and starting. If its a manual trans it might be the clutch pedal safety switch or it may be something as simple as a loose battery connection.

it's probably your starter, buut you might check your gear shift if it is an automatic, and make sure it is in park all the way...

First try turning on the headlights. If they don't come on or they are very dim then you may need to charge or replace the battery. If they are on then try to spin the engine over, watch the headlights to see if they dim when you try to start the vehicle. If they dim when you turn the key, add a set of jumper cable and try tapping on the starter with the jack handle while someone turns the key over (who ever turns the key over needs to hold it over until the vehicle starts). If the engine spins over then the starter is bad and will need to be replaced. If it does not it is possible that it is the electrical part of the ignition, park/neutral switch, relay or connections.

the immobilizer system is in lock mode. Sometimes cycling the key
will bring it out of lock mode. Turn the key to the on position for 5
seconds, then off for 5 seconds for 5 times or more then recheck.
If
that doesn't work you may be able to reset the control unit by removing
both battery cables and touching them together for a few seconds. This
procedure drains the control unit capacitors and they revert to their
prelearned values.
