SOURCE: Replaced crankshaft sensor, car still won't start

A camshaft sensor can cause a no start situation, so can a bad coil, or ignition control modual. You need further testing done.
A speed sensor does not cause a no start, that I'm aware of.

SOURCE: Hi my 2006 Jeep Liberty won't start or turn over all keep hearing is this click sound when I turn the ignition , Plus I just replaced the battery .

Probably a starter. It sounds like the starter solenoid is working, but the starter motor is not energizing.

You could try this simple trick, but Im about 85% sure you have a bad starter.

Have a buddy help you push the vehicle in neutral for a short distance. When you get it moving at a walking pace, put the transmission in Drive, and let the vehicle come to a stop. You may hear a little clicking, but thats OK, it wont hurt anything. Put the transmission back in Park and try to start the engine again. Sometimes the starter gear gets stuck on the flywheel and it wont engage when you try to start the engine. This trick may move the flywheel a little so the starter can engage.

I have a 1999 4.0L Mercury Mountaineer with a engine code P0340

Well code 340 is for a problem with the cam sensor for bank one which is the side with cylinder number one. The sensor and circuit would need to be checked which may require the use of a scanner.

97 mercury mountaineer. won't start

hi,

watch your oil pressure when cranking, you have to have some oil pressure to get the fuel system to start. you may have to find the hot wire at the relay and energize it to see if it is indeed the fuel pump going out. if its been sitting and its a 97 the fuel pump just might have went, you can also try hitting the gas tank from the outside in the middle to see if that works too. have a water hose or fire extinguisher around when your working on fuel system and leave one of your battery cable a little loose..

97 saturn sl turns over but wont start

1. Check to see if you are getting fuel. You should be able to hear the fuel pump start when you first turn the key on. It should run for 2 secs and then stop. Someone can listen by removing the gas cap and putting their ear close to the fill nozzle too.
2. If you do not hear the pump, remove the air cleaner inlet hose and spray a couple of squirts of WD40 or starting fluid in the intake section entering the engine. Try starting the car again. If it starts for a few seconds and then dies.. you have a fuel pump problem.
3. Remove a spark plug wire and insert a screw driver or something metal into the inside of the wire. Have someone try starting the car while you are holding the screw driver near a metal part of the engine. You should see a spark.. if there is any..
4. The most common problem if it has NO spark is the Crankshaft position sensor..
Good Luck..

your fuel pump may not be supplying the correct amount of pressure, this is pretty much a trait of Dodge, it will click and make noise, but the pressure just isn't there, spray some starter fluid into the air cleaner system, and turn it over, if it starts this is your problem

1997 Dodge Caravan won't start - has a tick tick sound

It sounds like the crank shaft sensor is hitting when you spin it over. It is probably in too far. There is a piece of card board stuck to the end of most of them to set it correctly. If it is not the the magnet will pull it to the metal reluctor. Pull it out and see if the end is rubbing. Then take a piece of card board from the box the sensor came in, put a dab of grease on the end of the sensor eg: magnet and put it back in, when it spins over the card board will be rubbed of. That should give you enough clearence for the magnetic sensor to work and not rub eg: the ticking noise.

turn the key to the on position a see if you can here a buzzing sound around the fuel tank,if you don't hear a sound then. (be very careful while doing this) with the key off take a fuel line coming from the tank loose, make sure its pointed away from you and turn the key to the on position, see if any gas comes out,if not then your fuel pump is probably bad.
