SOURCE: Hello, I own a 93

The transmission is controlled by the Transmission Control Unit (TCU).

Throttle position, rpm, and speed are input parameters to the TCU. The TCU has a default set of shift patterns. These shift patterns change over time based on your specific vehicle setup and driving habbits.

The shift patterns are only slightly affected by driving habbits over many driving cycles. But, changing the relationship between the throttle position and the actual speed being reported by the speed sensor can have an immediate effect on shift patterns.

While your speedo may now be correct, the realtionship between rpm and thottle position has not been corrected. That would take a gear change in the differentials.

The TCU can be reset to an inital learn base line. When this is done, the TCU will instantly learn the dynamics of your setup.

Any shop with an advanced ODB scan tool can reset the the TCU. The dealer or a transmission shop would be preferable.

You really should change your differential gears as opposed to resetting the TCU

SOURCE: 2001 Buick Century shift solenoid

It is in the side cover on the valve body. The transmission needs to be removed to access the solenoids.

Sounds like an electric shift solenoid issue. I suggest talking to a transmission shop.

''04 Buick LaSabre, Transmission rough shifting. Are pressure control solenoid and shift solenoids internal to transmission?

The solenoids are internal ! But if it were a solenoid problem the check engine light would come on . There are a lot of variables involved in the shifting of electroniclly controlled transmissions , it's all part of the engine management strategy programmed into the PCM - engine computer . I would take and have it checked before guessing about parts problems . A good qualified repair shop would hook up a professional grade diagnostic tool and road test the vehicle . With-in a few miles they would know for certain .

Why won't it shift into drive or overdrive?

Joshua, Have transmission scanned for trouble codes, check fluid level and top up if needed, maybe shift solenoid, sprag in transmission,etc.. Have a good technician diagnose and estimate repair.

I have a 2004 Nissan Maxima. can't shirt it out of PARK. I tested the break switch and it seems to work (has continuity) also the break lights come on when I press the break pedal. I just replaced the...

Generally, when a shift lock solenoid/system goes bad you just zip tie the shift lock to unlocked position and that removes the need to depress the brake to shift out of park.
