I say find a real shop in secret country and scan the PCM and BCM both
for errors, it will have some I BET.

This could be your micro switch in the door lock itself , by a vw golf type four and other modelss you have an automatic locking function if you unlock your door but don't open it and most of the time it's the passengers door as it is used the least.firstly check the wiring to the lock and between the door and the body then checck the micro switch on the lock if its correctly seated and if its make a click when you press on the metal arm .

-Check the relay. It might stuck on.
-Basic check:
-Leave the hoop open and locate the relay. Then lock the car
and now remove (Unplug) the relay. If the light is gone
then the relay is bad. (It stuck on On Position)

Could be a fuse. Check the interior firewall fuse box under the driver's side dashboard area. That's location of the fuse box. Probably wired in series....maybe wrong bulb replaced.

Are you sure you tied into the factroy trailer wiring circuit of the truck? It is really hard to mess this up.

Firstly look on the gearbox and u will see a switch with a two wire plug going in to it . Pull it off, then bridge the wires with a split pin. If your lights work then it wants a reverse light switch if it doest check the fuses and bulbs

t5 originally had a spare wheel underneath but some conversion companies remove it to fit waste water/sewerage tanks etc,you will need to put car on ramp and see if you have enough space,or do whatever the rest of us do and put it on the front(makes a good deer ram...)

Please re-post your question as it sounds like you are talking about the later vanagon and not the bay-window type 2 since the bay-window units did not have fancy idle control and stabilizer units.
