SOURCE: 1996 Nissan Sentra Automatic shift lock problem

jlcoffell1: From your description, it sounds as though there has been a power source supplied which is not suppose to be present all the time. If someone over rode the interlock, they may have supplied power to the shift solenoid so that it would be the same as though you were applying the brake. It could be as simple as, who ever bypassed the system, picked the power source from the ignition circuit from that control unit. The ignition circuit is a green wire. It goes hot when the ignition switch is turned on. You would look for it to be jumped some how to either the same side of the control unit as the green wire going in, but it would be tied in with a red/green wire. If they carried it to the other side of the control unit, it would tie into the Blue/orange wire.
This is where I would look first.>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Where is the shift solenoid located on a 2013 Nissan Sentra SV?

All shift solenoids are inside the transmission attached to the valve body.

2012 Nissan Sentra stuck in park

Sounds like the brake pedal interlock switch needs adjusting or replacing. The brake pedal has to be depressed to release solenoid for shifter lock in the console. To override the shifter lock, you will have to remove the solenoid in the console. Check the solenoid before removing it.

Shift interlock switch in sentra 93

That is the solenoid that is released, when you step
on the brake,so you can move the gear shifter

Nothing to do with the transaxle

Hard shifts are mostly worn out transmissions

Internal problems or shift solenoid problems

Could also be band servo issue

Probably due for a rebuild

I have a 2000 nissan sentra. My shifter won't let me get out of park to other gears. Takes 5 minutes to release from Park. Shifting between other gears is fine afterwards. How do i fix this? please reply...

when this happens, have some one look at your brake lights to see if they are lit while you depress the brake pedal. if the light are not lit then the brake light switch is bad.
if the light are lit then the shift interlock solenoid under the shifter is bad

GEAR STUCK ON PARK AND WON'T MOVE

I think your brake shift interlock solenoid is not releasing the Park position when you apply the brake.

Check for a blown fuse first. see owner manual for location of fuse.

Also, check owner manual for how to manually bypass the interlock.

When you step on the brake pedal, it activates a solenoid that unlocks the shift linkage cable so it will move. It is a safety feature to ensure you have you foot on the brake and not the gas, as you shift out of park.

please rate highly if this helps.
