SOURCE: 1997 sentra ignition locked

With the key in the ignition, tap on the key with something heavy like a pair of pliers, screwdriver etc. It will cause the pin inside the mechanism to drop, and the iginition will turn. Happened to me today, worked like a charm.

SOURCE: trouble starting

I tried the following and it works for me like a charm I push the key gadget in halfway, wait for the first light on left to go out and then push it in slightly further until all lights and bells are silent and then I push it in the whole way and it starts right up. I am not getting VW to replace this to the tune of $1800.....this fix works just fine!

SOURCE: My 97 F250 wont shift out of park? Engine starts,

most likely your brake switch is out. If you had a scanner you would be able to see if the computer see's you pressing on the pedal. Or if you know how to test you could check to see if it switches ( completes the circuit ).

Key wont come out motor wont even click whats wrong

Try turning your steering wheel, some of the cars has a safety lock that will lock your tumblers in your ignition and the steering wheel which acts as an anti-theft systems. I would try turning your steering wheel to the left and right as much as you can which will not be much. Yes, I realize it seems a bit goofy, but I had vehicle that would not let go my key, but turning the steering wheel to the left and right and at the same time attempting to turn the ignition to the neutral position to get the key out was the only way to retrieve my key. It keeps people from putting the vehicle into Neutral and pushing your car away without the key.

Symptons on low power steering fluid

You steering wheel will have lots of play sometimes you can turn wheel about an inch or two without wheels turning. Check your fluid it has a little plastic dip stick in it like oil cept this has two measurement spots one for cold and one for hot. Add when cold up to cold line. If this keeps leaking you might have to replace your steering gear box

When I put the key into the ignition and try to turn it it wont turn. The steering wheel is lock and when I try to move the steering wheel to find the "sweet Spot" to turn the key and start the car the key...

If your are turning the wheel to the "sweet spot" like you said, and you are using the right key, do you have a second key that still won't work? Then ignition lock tumblers are worn. You or dealer has to fix.

My steering wheel won't move in my 2000 pontiac grand am gt...I can still put the car in drive, reverse, etc. But the steering wheel is not moving at all.

it may be your steering lock try and move the steering left and right whilst turning the ignition or an old car thief trick is just keep pull down to one side on the wheel until the steering lock snaps or shears and it should be free to turn after that good luck
