The bulb in the rear light has burned out and to replace it follow these instructions: 1) go to your owner's manual to find out the part number. You can find and purchase the replacement bulb at Target, any auto parts store and even at Walmart for under $4.00; 2) pop open the trunk door; 3) get a phillips screw driver and unscrew the 2 screws holding the rear brake light fixture to your car body; 4) as soon as you turn over the fixture you'll see where to pull out the burned out bulb and replace it with the new one(s). You may sneak it out with small fingers with out pulling out the starter.

If starter removal is required,Just unhook the battery cables,Remove the 2 bolts holding the starter on.

He can do it. Tell him to just be patient (everything is a tight fit in a PT) and remember to disconnect the battery first. No special tools are required. He may have to move a bracket or two for access. It lives on the left side (front) of the motor and easiest to get to from underneath.

I dont have a diagram, but these have 2 speeds and they are a common problem. the fan will need to be replaced (complete unit)
