Abs lite was on ,and went away,now air bag lite on, is their a short?car runs fine.

You may be in need of an ABS control module. It's hard to say without diagnosis. But anytime I have seen this problem that has been the solution, you can also check your wheel speed sensors, if you install aftermarket axles sometimes they can amuse the same problem, it could also be a fuse.

You need to get a diagnostic meter that connects to the diagnostic port on the car. It will read and display all the codes that it finds. It will also reset the check engine light. Some models will reset the air bag lite and the abs lite as well.

Short circuit (or false positive) in one of the passenger's AB sensors circuitry (may be in door-to-body bundled cable). Have it replaced, reset electronics (refer to Manual), replace AB and go.

Get the fault code.

if you try to test the airbags and you short across the terminals it will take your head off.only check if you know exactly what you are doing.check the computer for any faults,then check power to sensors thats it.....

The air bag module is under the heater core. If your heater core leaks onto that "blue box" it will smoke like mad.

Check and see if your alternator is charging
Low voltage will cause those lights to come on, as the computer is shutting down.

To check your alternator you will need a volt meter... WITH the engine running you should have about 14 volts coming out. IF NOT you need to replace the Alternator!

kenchyke, the shop may have disabled the air bag system to work on the car, and possibly forgot to activate it again. While this seems a bit odd to me that they could overlook this but, since it started after the work was done, you need to return it to the shop asap to have them check it out. Although the car runs fine, the abs system and the air bags won't operate, which could result in injury if you are in an accident (air bag will not deploy, abs probably disconnected).
