I have a 1997 Grand Am 2.4 SE. When I turn the key nothing happens, however all of the lights work. Yesterday when I tried to turn the key it was trying to turn over, when I let the car key go it continued trying to turn over. Now nothing at all happens. This morning I replaced the starter and still nothing is happening when I turn the key. Any suggestions?
Check battery full charge, battery terminals are clean, cables aren't cracked, broken or corroded and alternator first.
Which your having replaced your starter with new already. If you're still getting nothing it sounds like a bad ignition switch.
They wear normally and need to be replaced. But as a helpful hint don't place excess keys or weighty trinkets on your ignition keys.
They wear on the seating of the key in the ignition and often promote failure in the ignition from bearing the dangling weight.
Change the battery and try new fuel pump
Check the crank cam sensor at an authorised service centre.
