I have a problem with with my 19966 Jeep Grand Cherokee stalling &back backfireing& hard to start back

You need a technician with a pro grade scan tool computer to check the modules and sensors. Diagnose, then repair or replace. The 'let's try replacing this' method of repair is expensive.

Clean the Throttle Body and MAF (mass air flow sensor), but my first thought because of the backfiring is an intermittent fault with the Crankshaft or Camshaft Position Sensors. The diagnosis will pinpoint the fault.

definately a vacuum problem, try changing your pvc valve its under $5.00 and easy

I have a 99 jeep myself and it was my throttle position sensor.

Get rid this vehicle to some pond and buy a new one.

change out the throttle position sensor

you need to check the fuel pressure,and did you mean you replaced the distributor or just the rotor because inside the distributor is a pickup plate that some times causes this also 02 sensor can cause this.is your check engine light on if so go to chain auto parts store they usually read your codes for free.

THIS VEHICLE I,M SURE HAS A CRANK SENSOR LOCATED IN THE TOP OF BELLHOUSING AT BACK OF ENGINE A LITTLE TO THE PASSENGER SIDE THIS CAN AND WILL CAUSE THIS ALONG WITH AN EVENTUAL NO START/STALL BUCK **** YOU NAME IT

either a pick up crank sensor ,or a dodgy fuel pump .But it could be evan a ECU unit playing up or factory immobilisor .hope its something cheap and easy for you though

If so, start motor and verify that it behaves irratically and then stalls.

then, spray WD-40 liberally around base of throttle body where tb meets intake manifold.

You gotta vacuum leak. Replace gasket under TB and tighten bolts to factory spec.

get a couple bottles of gas line antifreeze .. if you don't already use it and add it to the gas.
