The 83buick lesabre just got a tune up. I don't have my alternator hooked up to the battery. I had to buy another connector for it. Would that make it not crank. Or just recheck my tune up

I did an oil change an tune up for 83 Buick lesabre with not enough oil. All connections hooked up except alternator. But it won't crank. What should I do? An it turns slow when try to crank

1ST make sure the oil level is up to spec. make sure all connections are connected & either charge the battery or boost the battery. If a boost doesn't do the trick, try leaving the booster cables hooked up with the other car running for a few minutes & try starting again. Try that battery charge next. If no luck, u may need a batt, Have a battery voltage test done / load test & starter draw test when fully charged. If u get it running have the alternator checked & ckd for shorts. Good Luck

Engine won't start after battery change.

When disconnecting your battery you need to hook up an alternative power supply . Vehicles with the electronics there have now a days . Something's need to be relearned an some of the modules may not wake back up at all , unless hooked up to a factory scan tool . Battery Disconnect or Replacement Problems

Battery tests good & alternator tests good on 2002 buick lesabre. keep charging battery and then it does start, but not after driven for about 20 miles, then it won't start again.

Hook a digitalmeter to the battery in your driveway while the car is running. It should read 13.5vdc. If it doesn't, something is pulling it down. We can start there. Looking forward to hearing from you again.

My 1998 buick lesabre wont crank and it makes a clicking noise when I try to start it

if it clicks more than likely a jump start will get it going and unless the headlights or other power is left on you might need a battery or alternator also the car is new enogh it will need a direct 12 volt power source for the pcm so if you un-hook the jumper cables and it dies it definetly needs a battery hope this helps

Removing alternator is connected to any hoses, looking at the back of the alternator I see two hoses that the housing is connected to the housing of the alternator.

There are 2 wire connectors in black tubing. Make sure to disconnect the battery 1st. The one is a connector with a pry up tab. The other is a red wire that is bolted on 12mm i think socket only.
The other thing that looks like an alternator but isn't is the a/c pump with hoses!!
The alternator is near the firewall cab the ac is nearer the radiator.

93 Buick LeSabre. Battery not charging

use a volt meter while the car is running to check the main wire or large red wire coming off the back of the alternator it should read a steady 14 volts, the volt meter must be set at dc 10 amp settings, ground the black wire to ground or a metal surface some where on the car and touch the red probe wire on the volt meter to the main terminal of the alternator as i said it should read a constant 14 volts if it doesn't the alternator is bad.

1988 Buick Lesabre drained battery

Sounds like you have a bad alternator. but first , check the battery connection o the positive side where the cables overlap eachother. they like to corrode in between the two cables and do just what your saying. but it really sounds like you need an alternator. have someone check the red wire on the back of the alternator and see if there is power there al the time- should be. if so replace the alternator, i have had many new or not vary old one fail. - good luck
