SOURCE: 1991 Corcisa 2.2 4 cyl. auto trans; rough idle

I take it by previous comment that the egr valve solution given to you was wrong and i`m betting you checked the vacuum line that went to it. My guess is the catilitic converter is burned out causing loss of compression try just turning idle screw up a little or spend money on new converter That piston compresion on that one kind of worries me i hope it han`t gone to bad yet

SOURCE: I have a 2005 Jeep

Symptoms:--

the engine may be harder to start.the engine may stumble / stumble, and/or hesitate.

other symptoms may also be present...There may be rough idle, sputters and stalls and jerks.

Causes:--
* Faulty spark plugs or wires
* Faulty coil (pack)
* Faulty oxygen sensor(s)
* Faulty fuel injector(s)
* Burned exhaust valve
* Faulty catalytic converter(s)
* Stuck/blocked EGR valve / passages
* Faulty camshaft position sensor
* Defective computer.

A P0300 diagnostic code indicates a random or multiple misfire. If the last digit is a number other than zero, it corresponds to the cylinder number that is misfiring. A P0302 code, for example, would tell you cylinder number two is misfiring. Unfortunately, a P0300 doesn't tell you specifically which cylinder(s) is/are mis-firing, nor why.

As you have cleaned the injectors ,replaced spark plugs ,the air control valve etc etc so ignore that parts.But check out the other possibilities for random misfire.

check the coils (a.k.a. coil packs). In some cases, the catalytic converter has gone bad. If you smell rotten eggs in the exhaust, your cat converter needs to be replaced.

Random misfires that jump around from one cylinder to another (read: P030x codes) also will set a P0300 code. The underlying cause is often a lean fuel condition, which may be due to a vacuum leak in the intake manifold or un-metered air getting past the airflow sensor, or an EGR valve that is stuck open.

Thanks. Keep updated for any more query. You can rate this solution and show your appreciation.

SOURCE: 1996 Chevy Tahoe 5.7 4x4 My SUV does has a rough

There is some items that still can be checked : see below the sensor checks with the dtc codes

  • Check the Heated Oxygen Sensor (HO2S).
  • Check for silicon contamination from fuel or improperly used sealant. The sensor will have a white powdery coating. The sensor will result in a high but false signal voltage (rich exhaust indication). The Control Module will reduce the amount of fuel delivered to the engine causing a severe driveability problem.
  • Refer to DTC P0131 HO2S Circuit Low Voltage Bank 1 Sensor 1 .
  • Refer to DTC P0132 HO2S Circuit High Voltage Bank 1 Sensor 1 .
  • Refer to DTC P0133 HO2S Slow Response Bank 1 Sensor 1 .
  • Refer to DTC P0134 HO2S Insufficient Activity Bank 1 Sensor 1 .
  • Refer to DTC P0135 HO2S Heater Circuit Bank 1 Sensor 1 .
  • Refer to DTC P0137 HO2S Circuit Low Voltage Bank 1 Sensor 2 .
  • Refer to DTC P0138 HO2S Circuit High Voltage Bank1 Sensor 2 .
  • Refer to DTC P0140 HO2S Insufficient Activity Bank1 Sensor 2 .
  • Refer to DTC P0141 HO2S Heater Circuit Bank1 Sensor 2 .
  • Check the Throttle Position (TP) sensor. If a sticking throttle shaft or binding linkage causes a high TP sensor open throttle indication, the Control Module will not control the idle. Monitor the TP sensor voltage. A scan tool and/or voltmeter should read less than 0.85 volts with the throttle closed.
  • Check the Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) sensor using the scan tool to compare the engine coolant temperature with the ambient air temperature on a cold engine. If the coolant temperature reading is more than 5 degrees greater than or less than the ambient air temperature on a cold engine, check for a high resistance in the coolant sensor circuit or the sensor itself. Refer to DTC P1115 ECT Sensor CKT Intermittent High Voltage Diagnostic Aids or DTC P0118 ECT Sensor Circuit High Voltage Diagnostic Aids .
  • Check the Manifold Absolute Pressure (MAP) sensor response and accuracy. Refer to DTC P0106 MAP System Performance

  • Check for vacuum leaks. Vacuum leaks can cause a higher than normal idle and low Idle Air Control ( IAC) counts.
Check the IAC Valve on the throttle body. The IAC will not move if the system voltage is not within 9 to 16 volts...

Your mechanic should be able to do these test if he has the proper diagnostic equipment. if not take it to the dealer ... but this shoudl help some anymore woiuld have to be hands on diagnostic ..

Good Luck

2002 dodge caravan jerks on reverse an drive..gave a tuneup..new gas filter//cleaned the throttle body//I don't know what's wrong on it..help

jerking can be a number of things, as you say you have cleaned the throttle body new filter for the fuel, when cleaning its best to change the air filter or at least checking it to make sure its clean and not blocked up. you can also sometime inadvertently dislodge something in the fuel line and this can limit the fuel, but i would thing it would show more signs, it could need the spark plugs cleaning, it could be a build up of carbon on the plugs and now the system is cleaner the mix is not igniting good, so i would check and clean them, lower rev's need a better spark. i would also check the breather lines from the cam to the intake especially the thine one as this can block up and limit the airflow into the engine. so really its just clean these parts and see if there is any change.

Idles rough and rmps jump while driving.

You may want to have the throttle position sensor tested. You should be able to buy a Haynes or Chilton manual for directions. A new one TPS is only $60.00. Test before you replace.

I don't think it's a fuel problem. Sounds more like spark. Change plugs and wires, and possibly the coil pack. Also could be idle control sensor.

go the cheapest route. replace fuel filter and add SEAFOAM to tank of premiun fuel. replace filter before 500 miles. then add SEAFOAM to gas every 3000 miles to keep lines.engine,fuel pump, and emissions systems clean, ETHANOL problem number 3000
