What is the connection to a slipping transmission gears & code p0480 on my 2007 VW JETTA?

code p 0711 refers to unexpected ,mechanical gear disengagement====causes --operator error---transmission mechanical fault
make sure that it is not operator error before removing the box or ,
best take it in to an accredited professional transmission service center that has experience on VW transmissions to have it properly diagnosed

From the tear of the car I guess you have the 4-speed automatic. That transmission is not one of the most reliable ones...it has an internal wiring harness with relays attached to it, that are in control of what gear to select, based on input from an internal speed sensor, engine speed sensor and wheel speed sensor. There is also an issue with VW claiming that the transmission "is filled for life", which is absolute B.S. You have to change the transmission fluid and the filter at least every 60K or you will face an expensive rebuild. Have your mechanic scan the computer for fault codes related to the transmission and change the fluid and filter when the problem got fixed.

usually a sign that that gear set is starting to go out or has already, standard transmissions CAN be rebuilt, but it's usually easier to have a used working one put in place instead. good luck to you. does it pop out of gear?

You should diagnose the check engine light. You can have this done at a mechanic or alternatively you can rent a scanner from a parts store. What may feel like a slipping transmission can be a misfire.

gear linkage......vw dealers have a special alignment tool for the job.

Most likely its your transmission slipping You will need to have it checked by a mechanic if the rpm is double then it has nothing to do with the turbo, if it's a automatic it means the clutches are slipping or if it's a standard it means the clutch is slipping from being worn out or the pressure plate is wore out.

Inside the transmission case above the pan. You should probably let a transmission mechanic handle this one.

Code is engraved on a plate on the side of the transmission it self and usually it is a 3 letter code.

you should start by checking your brake saftey switch. you have to apply the brake when shifting from park if it is bad it will not allow you to shifft from park.try the cheapest easiest first.

hi if its just second to thrid then the clutch is slipping on thrid gear look at the boxes oil level is important but look at the colour is it red and tranperant as this is ok if its brown its a sign of the clutches slipping i would try a stall test on thrid gear first and if its ok second gear [manually] see is the engine stalls at the correct rpm if you thinkabout it imagine you are in thrid gear in a manuual box and suddenly drop into second it would be hard shifting it could also be a faulty thrid gear solenoid yates210456
