Bulb can be replaced. You can buy at Walmart or your local parts store. I recommend replacing both. They are rated for the same amount of run hours and will usually fail within the same month.

You can also buy from this link.

SOURCE: How do I replace the bulb in the high mount stop light?

Please look at the bottom of your tail lights there is 1 flat head screw there. Take it out and you can slide tail light out. You will find the back of the bulb there. Be care when returning the assembly back in place as it slide up and then you just replace the screw.

2002 Toyota highlander passenger brake light not working

RE: 2002 Toyota Highlander 2.4cyl. 4X4 Base Model

I am a Certified Technician and have basic knowledge with electronics in electrical wiring. I searched the web and discovered this is a common problem.

I fixed the problem and it was a simple procedure... The problem is with the reverse light socket at the side with no brake light. This socket functions as a hub to direct current to the brake bulbs.

Remove reverse light socket and re-seat bulb. Check for loose or broken prongs. Replace if necessary.

Swap the reverse socket with the other side.
