HAVE A 1998 WINDSTAR 3.0 WAS DRIVING AND JUST SHUT OFF. CHQANGED SPARK PLUGS, WIRES, CMP, AND TPS. HAVE SPARK FUEL AT CYLINDERS AND HAVE GOOD FUEL PRESSURE. WILL TRUNOVER BUT WON'T START.

SOURCE: bad stumble on acceleration pops through t- body.

Sounds like the fuel pressure regulator. Could also be that the timing jumped. But I'm leaning towards the pressure regulator. Hope that I could help. Best wishes.

ignition mod. grounds,pcm or timing belt could all be it but, I would have to look at timing first.

could it be the A/C pump kicking in. might be boging down the motor or electrical circuit, not letting the injectors get enough power. This could happen if the bearings are going bad in th A/C pump or there is a short in it. Just an idea. sounds like you have done the main components.

EFI= to Electronic Fuel Injection. If you have sparks, check for fuel delivery. Another is the electronic module on your distributor, but you already said you have spark and hopefuly the right "timming" too. So you checked the current and is OK, what else do we have.The computer? Remeber that Camry,is the cadillac of the Toyota. Some even have Lexus parts. So expect parts to be rather expensive!.

fuel pressure regulator could hav failed-located by engine or the ignition module may not be workin-by dist area try not to be a parts replacer-buy a repair book

I have a Dodge Grand Caravan crank no start

2002 3.8 Grand Caravan (USA CAR I will answer only this !)
why not scan it first or for sure first first all fuses good. tested.
starter works (ding)
is the IMMO lamp glowing wrong " means engine fuel is immobilized for bad key ,etc.
first after doing the above first it spark we must do spark first
why, because the PCM cuts fuel if it see spark fail, that is a fact and by laws DOT etc.
here are the rules, called ASE basics.
  1. engine not bad, cats melted or EGR stuck open. compression good.
  2. spark, good no just one plug (ALL)
  3. fueling is last, cant burn fuel with no spark. see??????
  4. that is the MACRO view, true causes are vast. specific.
fuses good, scan tool used like this:
connect scan tool to 16 pin DLC jack at knees
crank engine 10 seconds max, or 20 crank turns.
release the key, NOT OFF, and let the tool scan for 5min and see if you get DTC errors of any kind but P03xx errors,
need to be told or learn what they mean, bad cmp,cpk, or spark dead. codes.
your 2002 v6 has single 6 term coil pack , is really 3 coils runs 6 plugs
and is called wasted spark and HV wires are connected wrong it will not start the engine but spark test pass, oops, wired wrong.!
to replace it or the wires, do so 1 wire at time not mixing them up.
do not test for spark with other HV WIRES/spark plugs removed,do them 1 at a time, or it will LIE TO YOU, wasted spark is cool but must be obeyed. (each pair are series wired, Physical)

see the cylinder numbers here (i over exposed it for you)
do no mix these up ever.
6-3, 4-1, 2-5, (yes 2 fire at the same time , one is wasted)
again 642
and 315
even top odd bottom and not mixed up.
Cyl #1 is the bank most front of block. always
cylinder numbers are.
this car is before COP coils x6 were used.later.
3.8L V6 MPI/SMPI VIN L

your service manual told you not to just throw in parts for CMP or CKP and then fail to do the relearn process in the manual
see why guessing bad parts only makes it worse.????????

not scanning first, puts you barking up wrong tree and invites adding more problems.
why work blind I SAY, ???????
test spark 1 plug at a time
if all 6 fail PCM is bad or its fuse. or ckp/cmp errors.
F16 blow spark dies , all.
and last DODGE ASD relay.
it fails (or bad relay) for bad inputs from PCM
it fails if spark fails yes seems odd but it first closes and as you crank the engine the logic to ASD GIVES PARK a chance to work
if not , it DROPs THE ASD DEAD.
the reason for all this is NO CRASH AND BURN as seen on TV
and by law.
the ASD drops if fuel can not be spark burned.
so if you crash , and spark ends there can be no fuel injected, a very dangerous thing, also Air bags SRS tripped cuts fuel
and the IMMO key failing too. cuts fuel..(or even spark on some cars and both others ( programming logic)of PCM./
trans verse engine, trans
cylinder on 3.8 are this.
V engines have and offset, see this? and is #1, but other named cylinders vary by engine. ours is even odd named.

my last hint of a the day: (have 1000 more)
if one HV lead fails, as seen in trash carbon or gell wires. no mag wires.
2 spark plugs go dead, and engine just hates running on 4.
test them all 6 and win.

1998 toyota corolla hard to start when hot

hot soak ,no starts 101:
which engine?, cant guess that. say it. please."name /size"
is it flooding or starving
hard to start , so that is easy you are parked, and makes diagnosis so easy, (no need to move)
you skipped the fuel filter:?
why not use a scan tool now.?
you crank for 5 seconds, see P03xx errors. DTC'
THE ECU REPORTS ALL CMP AND CKP SENSOR ERRORS!
bingo now you have your answer , finding this, scan tool free is hard hard work. am i to tell you that hard way, sure.
1:test spark on all cylinders ,same way 100 years, google it.
2: ok sparks good, i check all spark plug tips, for wet and dry or soaked in fuel.
3: i see dry, , i use test fuel (same way for 100 years,)
run on test fuel (my Model a ford, same way works.....)
4:; ah one plug is soaking , ah leaking injector
5:ah, all plugs wet, (too high fuel pressure, ECT stuck cold
if all are wet, I stop, there are lots of tests for this.(bulleted below)

  • fuel pressure (KEYON, cranking and running and W.O.T.)
  • injector leak down tests. all of em;'
  • injector balance test (ALL)
  • Fuelpump regulator 4 tests

all this perplexing, get your ASE mechanic in the loop.

What causes loss of excelleration while driving

It sounds like either your fuel pump has quit or your fuel filter is badly plugged. If you crank it for a while and do not smell gasoline back at the exhaust, your fuel pump has probably quit.

1998 Suzuki Esteem ran out of gas. Still won't start after putting in gas. Is there a way to prime it.

putting gas where?
gas tank
or doing the Test fuel procedures?
is this a barn find/ field found car, or it ran perfect last week, and DD for months. (daily driver?) all this maters and is unstated.
1.6L or 1.8L engine, G16 or J18 suzuki enignes? major different they are.
with old engines, we do this and win every time.

all FUSES good, (EFI and spark fuses up to 3 or more)

1: compression test, sparks out , wide open throttle. warm to hot engine.
180psi on all,, good, if like 90, the timing belt slipped. if J18. we have
3 folks now on our forum that managed to slip a chain (they ingored huge noises from engine,,,, amazing)
2: spark got good on all 4 cylinders. and timed right not guessed at
using a real tool called a timing light for 20 bucks.
3: with fuel pump relay pulled i test engine on test fuel.
runs for 3 seconds, each spray and SOUNDS good.
ok it does that.. (this avoids flooding issues)
4: i put back the fuel pump relay.
and it dont start. i check for injection,
i find all injectors, dead.
the ECU is cutting injection,
i connect scan tool and see the CKP DTC errors , the CKP is dead
or CMP on G16. dead. the ECU reports them cranking only, on a dead engine.
the ECU will cut fuel if it seen spark dead.
the ECU will cut fuel if the TPS sensors signals wide open throttle cranking
i checked all that and its good.
i find fuel pressure a 0 , cranking, (one more cheap tool)
i find 12vdc good to pump cranking (a 10 buck meter at walfart)
the pump is bad. no the wires are corroded. at the pump line....
super common on old cars.

this is 1 example path of 100s.

I have a 1998 Chrysler Sebring LXi 2 door coupe with the 2.5L SOHC I have 123500 miles on it changed spark plugs and wires distributer cap and rotor not to long ago and did fuel filter to and it sputters...

COULD BE WEAK FUEL PUMP WEAK IGNITION SYSTEM CAUSED BY A BAD COIL CLOGGED AIR FILTER..CLEAN FUEL INJECTORS SEE IF IT HELP.IF NOT YOU HAVE LEAKING INTAKE OR LOW COMPRESSION CYLINDERS.CODE SCAN FOR FAULTY TPS SENSOR.

Changed the spark plugs and wires on 1996 ford windstar 3.8 liter V6 put the wires back wrong. runs not right

STANDING IN FRONT OF VAN FRONT CYLINDERS FACING YOU LEFT TO RIGHT IS 4 5 6 BACK CYLINDERS LEFT TO RIGHT IS 1 2 3 GET A PIECE OF PAPER WRITE NUMBER 51 THEN WRITE NUMBER 62 UNDER 51 THEN WRITE NUMBER 43 UNDER 62 THATS YOUR COIL PACK WIRES LOCATION MATCH THEM WITH THE CYLINDER SPARK PLUGS YOU HOME FREE.

My 1998 nissan maxima hesitates after it warms up this started to happen after i changed spark plugs and air filter also the check engine light starts to blink off and on

take it all off and redo it slowly again , do not change the cheap spark plug it can damage your engine & EGR system , the original spark plugs will cost from $10-14 each NGK LASER PLATINUM PFR5G-11you can buy it off Ebay , good luck
