Again if ur going to change the water pump consider doing the timing belt as well as ur tensioner just depends on the milage of ur vehicle. these are all tied in since the water pump is belt driven. for the timing belt and water pump and i believe about three hrs. or so of labor $405. you will know when u really need to change ur water pump.you'll start loosing water just in back of the timing belt cover next to the water pump

I am looking purchasing a 2009 Pontiac Vibe GT but the dealership said that the timing belt tensioner needs to be replace. Can you tell me approximately how much this will cost?

750.00 to 800.00 plus or minus 100.00 to replace the belt tensioner. Prices vary with each car. Labor is the biggest expense. Since parts are cheaper than the labor, it is better to replace several parts at the same time to save paying the high labor costs again in the near future. Replace timing belt, pulleys, belt tensioner and the water pump at the same time. The price to replace all of the mentioned parts would be over 1000.00.

Lx, 4 cyl, AT...approaching 90,000 mi...when

90k miles, recommended to replace also the water pump, idler and tensioner pulleys. Shop costs (3hr labor) $450-$750 depending on their labor rate and parts price.

Getting code p1361 on my 99 civic. what is the problem and how do you fix it?

Code P1361 = Intermittent Interruption In TDC 1 Sensor Circuit

Turns out Top Dead Center (TDC) sensor was bad. Yours is too.

This sensor in located behind the timing chain cover on my 2001 civic. You have to take the cover off to get to it. Honda dealer wanted $360 in labor to change the sensor. Because it was in the same the location Honda would have changed my timing chain for no extra labor charge. So I went to the Honda dealer and got the sensor ($56) and went to the auto parts store and got a timing chain, water pump, and new belts. Local mechanic changed all these parts for $160 in labor (others wanted $230). $130 for the sensor and timing chain and $30 more for the pump. I probably could have hacked that timing chain cover off myself but that is what thought would happen. A hack job. And it was time for a new chain anyway. 92 plus degrees outside and the civic is running fine.

Good luck (remember rated this post).

How to replace a water pump on hona civic lx 2003

Big job. Have to remove timing belt first. Once belt is removed the water pump is then unbolted and replaced with new one. Then timing belt is reinstalled

What else needs to be changed when doing a timing belt on a 1999 honda accord? and about how much should it cost?

Technically, nothing else needs to be changed when replacing a timing belt, however it is recommended or suggested to replace the timing belt tensioner and water pump while doing the belt. These items are only accessable when doing a timing belt. The cost should be under $100.00

What's a reasonbale price to replace the timing belt? I have 215k on the civic. Do you replace the water pump as well?

Im thinking 5.0 hrs shop labor and $50 for the belt.At this mileage you probably will be faced with extras like tensioners, pumps, seals etc.Its always best to do everything one time. Avg shop labor is $80 so you might pay $450 for this repair but less is always nice, however due to the extras, this might climb to a $750 repair....

Timing Belt

Normally my Honda Dealership replaces the Timing Belt, Water Pump, Valve Cover Gasket, Crank and Cam Seals all in one shot. Service life is about the same for all of them and the Honda Tech is right there anyway to do the Timing Belt, which saves the customer the Labor Cost of coming back later to do it. Prevents us from getting the customer back a couple of months later mad that they have to pay almost the same amount of labor again for another part to be replaced.
Normally they will also replaces the exterior belts if they have not already been replaced.
Go to www.repairpal.org for what the local cost are to be expected in your area, just keep in mind that it only lists the timing belt by it’s self there.

87' porsche 944 timing belt change and calibration. HELP!

Timing belts on 944s NEED to be changed every 30k miles. It can be a challenging job. I would recommend a shop. Balance belts, rollers and usually a water pump replacement is recommended at the same time. Cost, approximately $1400. Parts can be purchased cheap, but labor is 8-9 hrs.
If you decide to do it yourself you will need a specific timing belt tensioner gauge tool.
Good luck

2003 Honda Civic -LX Timing belt

90000 Miles on the Timing Belt. Do not let this go! A timing belt failure can cause internal engine problems.

Should cost around 200 or so, depending upon your local labor rates.

Good Luck!
