SOURCE: trailer brake controller problem

I found the problem. Talking with a technician from the controller company, we determined that it was a fuse problem. I found that the fuse to the CHMSL was blown.

SOURCE: how to replace the brake light switch on a 1998

Brake light switch is active by the brake paddle.

Before you start, take a picture or do a sketch of the spring or linkage around the brake paddle.

Move the seat back will give you better access.

Press the paddle and the inner side (closer to the firewall) of the paddle will activate the switch.

Please keep in mind there are fuse(s) to protect the lighting circuit.

Check all the fuses before you R&R the brake switch,

Brake lights wont go out on 2011 GMC 2500hd Denali have replaced brake switch. Only way to turn them off is to remove fuse.

I thought they had quit using the module in back, Maybe not. It is located behind the passenger side rear tire, mounted to the body. Usually grey in color, has four plugs going to it. I have replaced tons of these. Get some battery terminal cleaner and brake clean, most likely your going to have to clean out the plugs. Corrossion

How do I replace the brake light switch on a 2001 gmc sierra

Follow the brake petal up to the brake rod. Unplug the switch wire then take the clip of the petal then the brake light switch should slide right off.

Here is a picture of the brake light switch. Also at this point just buy a new connector and splice it on, much easier.

How to replace a brake light switch on a 1998 GMC Sierra 1500.

Hello my name is Israel and I will be glad to help you. Above the brake pedal there will be a small white in color switch with two wires coming out of it. This is the brake switch. You will need to pull the pigtail from the brake switch and then "unscrew" the switch and replace with new one. Connect the pigtail. Adjust the switch so that the brake lights activate with a touch of the brake pedal. Good Luck.

Check fuses first. If thats OK, could be a problem with the brake switch (down by the pedal) or the wiring.

My brake lights have stopped working. The high light above the rear window works fine and the rear signal lights are ok, too. I have replaced the bulbs and ckecked the fuse. Could it be the switch on the...

Hello,
The rear turn signals are wired through the Multifunction switch also called the turn signal switch. The Hazard switch is in that switch also and thats the circuitry the brake lights go through. You need to confirm voltage at the White wire off of the brake light switch and if its ok you have a bad multifunction switch.

I hope this helps.

Brake and/or taillights stay on

First, check the brake light switch, and if the high level light is on, the brake light switch is the likely problem. Even if it isn't, the bulbs could be burnt out. Anyway, disconnect the wire harness from the brake light switch on the brake pedal. If the lights go out, replace the switch. To test the light switch, disconnect the wire harness from that (with the switch in the "off" position). Again, if the lights go out, this is the problem. More likely, it is the brake one. This happened on my Dodge twice.
