The only way to retrieve your unlock code will be going to the Volvo dealer unfortunately.Simple go to the service department at the dealer ship you might have to have your vehicle ownership and they might charge a small fee.
These radio codes are not presented in radio for safety purpose and only your Volvo dealer can tell you these codes on producing the proof of ownership. These codes are generated based on your VIN number.
After using the codes if it says "ERR" do not try anything else further. Remove the radio and take it to the dealer or you can write down the letters and numbers from the top of the radio and the dealer will get you the radio code with the help of those numbers.
The only way this is possible if you contact a Volvo dealer and give them the ownership details of your vehicle. But this will only work if it is a factory fitted radio. If it is aftermarket you may have to contact the person or dealer you purchased it from for the code. Check your owners manual it may have the code in there..hope this helps, let me know how you get on.
The radio codes are in the car's printed manuals. So, find a manual if you can. That is how I reset the one to my mom's old Volvo 740 sedan. It helped that she had underlined that part years ago, though!
Hi:
The only way to get the radio code is at a dealer, and often you have to have the serial number of the radio, the VIN number of the car, and go to the service department. This is an anti theft preventative, and keeps theives from reselling stolen radios. If you have been to a Volvo dealer and done all I suggested above, then your only option is an aftermarket radio .
HELLO
in order to get the security code for your radio the serial number and VIN of the car are needed, each code is unique to each car it is installed in, it was provided to the original owner with the owners manual when the car was new, the code is stored in the vehicle information computer of Volvo and can only be accessed by the dealer or a few on line web sites, we have no access here at Fixya to these security codes for any make or model car or light truck, here is a web site that may be able to provide the unlock code for the radio for a nominal charge. http://www.radio-code.co.uk/volvo-radio-codes.html
You have to put the key in position 1 where the radio is on, but not your instrument panel. leave in this position for 2 hrs. yes, 2hrs! the radio then will come back to saying "code" once it does, call a volvo dealer, they can run your vin # and get your code. they may ask for proof of ownership. then push in your 4 digit code. this will work as long as the radio hasnt been changed out. if it has, they have to pull the serial number off the radio itself (it slides right out)and get the code for that radio.
your going to have to call up your local volvo dealer and give them your vin number and they can look it up for you. You can try using radio-code.com but i wouldnt recomend it. Your best bet is calling your local volvo dealer and they will help you out.
