This is what the tech manual says.....
Ignition Lock/Switch
REMOVAL & INSTALLATION
Some models covered by this manual may be equipped with a Supplemental Restraint System (SRS), which uses an air bag. Whenever working near any of the SRS components, such as the impact sensors, the air bag module, steering column and instrument panel, disable the SRS, as described in Section 6.
Yeah, I have looked on the net and called the dealership....looks like 3 options......
1--drill out method
2--get the car to the dealership (would be expensive!)
3--call a locksmith and have a key made (probably expensive also)
Any other "experts" have an idea that is low dollar and non-destructive???
Looking....hang on
There is an easier way to do this than drilling out the lock cylinder or replacing the entire lock assembly, also a lot cheaper. Remove the right side door panel and then remove the door lock, there is a number stamped on the lock, this is the key code, take the lock to the toyota dealer and they can make a new key using this number.
You're welcome!

kind of hard to put in the acc position without a key-missing key is reason for replacing cylinder
last year i purchased a motor for the window from a scrap yard-he had no key-and being a stubborn female i refused to buy the part w/o proof it worked-he found something under the dash to the left of the steering column that allowed him to turn ignition on with screw driver-sure wish that i had payed more attention--any idea what or where that might be?
I really hate to pull the damsel in distress card out...but...I am unemployed and on my own and really need to get this replaced --someone suggested a large screw driver---but I cant turn it---help!!
You sir are an ANGEL!!!!! Thank you so very much for all the time and effort you put into solving my problem!!
