SOURCE: nissan altima starting problem

i think replacing the sensor is in order. i know all car makes have "recalibration updates" for the ecm and should be done, but have rarely fixed vehicles on just that alone. and your symptoms suggest the sensor could be intermittently bad

SOURCE: 96 Nissan Maxima. Has new starter. Wouldn't

Did you have the new starter tested befor you installed it? Was their a lot of corosion on the battery cables? The cables might be corroded as well cousing too much resistance for the starter to crank.

SOURCE: 1999 Nissan Altima problem...

It sounds like the alternator may be bad it may have started to seize that would explain the rubber smell it burnt the drive belt, when the alternator goes bad the car runs off the battery but only until the battery runs down then the car will sputter and lose power. Have the alternator output voltage checked and the battery charged, replace the alternator if when running and with all accesories on headlights, wipers, fan motor, etc the alternator is not outputting at least 13 volts. also do this check after the battery has been charged and check out.

1998 nissan altima does not start

Does the engine crank or do you get a click noise. if you getting a clicking then the start is bad, if the engine is cranking you will need see if are getting gas to the engine and also spark to the spark plugs. if it cranks then look at a crank position sensor

Just had plugs, wires and bottom gasket leak fixed. Car cranked next day, several hrs. later, wouldn't start.mechanic came and jumped it off, said alternator was getting too hot. Next day cranked, drove to...

That would make sense, because when he jumped your car if he left it hooked up for awhile. Then he charged your battery up, so it started the next day. Then you drove to his shop and back it ran the battery down. It's easy enough to test and change alternators you could take it to autozone or O'Reillys if there is one close they can test your alternator. If you have more questions about this or if you would like to try and change it yourself just reply to this post and I will walk you through it.

My P11 1998 Nissan Primera Si 1600 twincam developed a fault one morning. It wouldn't start on the battery, but would bump start. Long story short: bumped the car to start it, and left it running to charge...

I would check the fuses first to make sure you didnt blow any out from all the battery change, jump starting, bump starting etc. Not sure if your battery was dead originally with the fault showing. You may have a bad alternator. Usually when the fault light comes on you can still drive on the battery for a distance, then the battery will drain/die.

Car won't start

It sounds like your battery has had it! IF you can jump start it, try to go to a battery store or a service garage to have your battery and alternator checked. If no other warning lights were previously on, it is possible that the battery just up and died. Otherwise, I would suspect the alternator.
Also, make sure teh parking brake is NOT engaged while driving.
