Need details about what part is needed and how to put it in
Try turning steering wheel when stuck in Park trying to go to reverse. Sometimes something gets stuck.
Speedometer. Maybe a fuse ?? ?
Check the wiring at the vehicle speed sensor. Usually within the last 8" of the harness is where the problem lies where it plugs into the sensor. Wiring rubs through in that area. If Wiring is ok change the sensor. Pretty easy job.
It is possible that the transmission eve needs to see the speed of vehicle to change gear , fix the speed issue first
Hi. I read your request and it isn't possible for me to tell you what your car needs from your description. Your vehicle is 12yrs old and if it has around 200K miles on it. It may be time for a replacement transmission. This suggestion is based on average transmission life span for a Uplander. The life of the drive line can be greatly extended with consistent, on-time preventive maintenance. Does this apply to you? How is your transmission maintenance history? Is the fluid the proper level and red in color? has the engine turned on or started flashing at all? If so have you had any of the codes read? Please have the codes read if this applies. This situation usually requires diagnostics to find out what is wrong with your car's transmission and speedometer. Shutting the engine off and restarting it may help but issn't enough for a diagnosis. The speedometer also requires diagnostics. With this issue more than likely the fault will either be a bad output speed sensor, broken wire, corrosion on plug/terminal or the gauge cluster itself will need to sent out for repair or be replaced. Please write back and give some back ground on your experience and tools you might have for performing diagnostics. For example line pressure and a multimeter to look at wiring and circuit operation.

You will also need to swap the speedo cluster. thats where the anti theft module is located. After that you may still need to relearn the key switch.I will look at the wiring diagrams and get back to you on the starter circut in side the vehicle. You may have to change some other things.Talk to ya soon. Dan

The ECM or TCM may be the culprit, its also possible that a ground wire is no longer grounded or partially grounded giving you the erratic speedometer.

Check on ebay, I had the same prob with mine, 3 lights blew out. Check 12v_electronics, NEW MERCEDES VW BMW DASH INSTRUMENT CLUSTER BULBS 1.5W. This is where i bought mine and have not had any prob. No dealer or parts house will carry this bulb seperate.

Did the transmission you put in have the the pick up on the output shaft. Pull out the vss and see if the pick-up is on the shaft or a speedo gear is on the shaft. If it has a gear, you will have to change it to a pick up wheel. The older 700 transmissions used gears.
