02 explorer 4.0 soch. just replaced cylinder heads and timing components. starts good but idols low and rough. runs good down the road. what could cause the rough idol

the idle screw can be located by following the throttle cable to the carby body, you will find a quarter wheel which the cable hooks into at the bottom you'll see adjustment screw, this will adjust your idle speed.

SOURCE: check engine light on,idols rough,fine at all other speeds.

I decided to check the idol air control valve,when I removed it I found the problem right behind it. The P C V valve hose was just about into where it fastens to the intake,the other end was bad also. Cost me aout $6.00 Where auto parts stores were telling me parts would cost two or three hundred $$.

Many thinks it is the intake manifold gaskets... i will change mine this week-end and i'll keep you guys posted. i had the same codes as above with the coils and it still sputters. so i am going foe the vaccume leaks before the expensive repairs.

There could be many things that can cause that. You many need just a simple tune up, such as new spark plugs, and wire set. The injector's may be getting dirty and the fuel filter may be at the end of it's life and needs to be changed.
If your going to tune it up your self, get the computer scanned at Auto Zone and see if there are any DTC codes that my be causing the problem. They scan for free and can give you the step by step instructions to any parts your going to replace such as the fuel filter and spark plugs.
For now if you like, try add fuel injector cleaner to your gas every time you fill up the gas tank to try to clean up the injectors. if things improve then just add it to the gas tank once a month. You can buy them at most gas stations but i find then to be cheaper at a parts store like Auto Zone or you can get them at Wal-Mart in multi packs to save you more money.

1st how do you know the miss is on cyl 5 & 6? did you take the lead off and see if the miss was still there?
check all vacuum hoses and cables
