I worked for Kubota for 10 years and I am not familiar with a PTO temp sensor, John Deere or otherwise. The PTO function has nothing to do with engine other than slight increase in coolant temp when the PTO is under a load. Check for correct Hydraulic oil level(dipstick or sight glass in transaxel) and make sure grass or trash is not packed around the hydraulic oil cooler in front of the radiator. Remove the screen and use compressed air to clean it often. Change hydraulic oil filters every 100 hours

John Deere 4600 shuts off when put in gear,

If your John Deere 4600 shuts off when put in gear, even after bypassing the seat switch, there could be several potential causes for this issue. Here are some troubleshooting steps you can take:
  1. Check the Neutral Start Switch: The neutral start switch ensures that the tractor can only be started when it is in neutral. If this switch is malfunctioning, it may cause the engine to shut off when you engage a gear. Inspect the switch for any visible issues and consider testing or replacing it.
  2. Inspect the PTO Switch: The power take-off (PTO) switch should be disengaged when shifting gears. A malfunctioning PTO switch could be causing the engine to shut down. Check the PTO switch for proper operation.
  3. Examine Safety Interlock Switches: There are often multiple safety interlock switches on a tractor, including those associated with the brake, clutch, and other safety features. Check all safety interlock switches to ensure they are functioning correctly. A faulty safety switch could shut down the engine when a gear is engaged.
  4. Battery Voltage and Connections: Low battery voltage or poor connections could lead to electrical issues. Check the battery voltage and ensure that the connections are clean and tight.
  5. Inspect Fuses: Check the fuse box for any blown fuses. If a critical fuse is blown, it could lead to a shutdown when engaging gears.
  6. Fuel System: Ensure that the fuel system is functioning properly. Check the fuel filter, fuel lines, and fuel supply to the engine. Lack of fuel flow could result in the engine shutting down.
  7. Engine Sensors: Modern tractors are equipped with various sensors that contribute to engine control. A malfunctioning sensor, such as a crankshaft position sensor, could cause the engine to shut off unexpectedly.
  8. Professional Inspection: If the issue persists after checking the above components, it may be advisable to seek professional assistance. A qualified mechanic or John Deere service technician can perform more in-depth diagnostics using specialized tools.
It's important to approach these troubleshooting steps carefully, and if you're uncertain or uncomfortable performing certain tasks, seek assistance from a professional. Additionally, refer to the tractor's manual for specific details about the safety interlock system and troubleshooting procedures.

What is the lever between the gear shift levers for? John Deere 2030

I don't know but I would guess it could be for a differential lock or to engage the PTO (power take-off).

Where is the starter relay located on a 1991 Toyota VX 80 Series?

If the Toyo has a Nippon-Denso starter, the Solenoid is the Relay....It is an integrated function to engage the drive gear and high amp motor run to turn the engine over....What are Your symptoms.....The 14 ga. Black wire with white stripe connected to the solenoid is the signal from the ignition switch.....low voltage here will not actuate the solenoid......John Deere sells a Relay that taps the battery terminal at the starter for signal voltage...The Black wire with white stripe will trigger this relay at a lower voltage......Really nice set up if installed properly.....Everything is right at the starter and no voltage drop at the solenoid......Ask John Deere for Starter Relay Mod. The will know what you talking about....Don't forget to disconnect the negative battery cable before installing the relay kit........

Starting the engine when cold

Look for the temp sensor around the area where the top coolant hose meets the engine. That should be your thermostat housing (goose neck)....the coolant temp sensor is typically located in or around that component. What octane gas are you using? You may find that operating in the colder temp will require you to run premium in order to avoid excessive starts.

Cooling fan wont work

The water temp sensor is located near the thermostat housing. This sensor is what tells the ECM to turn the fan on/off. The water temp sending unit is located near the same area. You know you have the correct sensor is because the water temp sensor has a 2 prong plug. The water temp sending unit only has 1 prong.
