How do I fix the problem? I can't shift from park in my 2012 Ford Escape .

this is just a suggestion but the steering wheel lock may be malfunctioning try while whith your left hand jerking your steering wheel counter clock wise while jostling your ignition with your keys securely in the ignition towards the start direction. this may not be it but it does happen

Check your shifter cable. I'm dealing with something similar. I actually just need the rubber busher and not the entire cable. My neighbor is a mechanic...thank God...and from what I hear it's an easy DIY. Good luck.

This was the problem on our car: Open the hood and follow the cable from the gear shift down to where it meets the transmission. The cable end has a loop and attaches to the gear shift lever coming out of the transmission with a peg. It appears the loops is only held in place by a small rubber grommet. The grommet had perished allowing the cable end to pop off and hang loose. You can reattach it quite easily by reaching down with one hand. I had read in other years it is held on by a zip tie

Toyota Tercel stuck in gear

Its a gear shift issue.

The shifter needs to be inspected. The shifter assembly is got misaligned, it has to be open and realign.

There are many other possibilities. But if it was working right up till now and suddenly this occurred then its shifter assembly alignment issue.

Shifting when driving

The shifter needs to be inspected.If the gears are shifted automatically.The shifter assembly is got misaligned,it has to be open and realign.

There are many other possibilities.But if it was working right up till now and suddenly this auto shifting occurred then its shifter assembly realign issue.
