SOURCE: How do I program a

came across this, maybe this will help out...this is for analog gauges....

With the ignition in the "RUN" position (engine does not necessarily need to be running, but it will work either way).
Press OFF and WARMER (or the OFF and PASSENGER WARMER buttons) on climate control panel simultaneously. Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) will light all telltales, then go blank. System is now in DIAGNOSTIC MODE. After diagnostic mode cycles through and stops, press FAN DOWN button until "RFA?" is displayed, then press FAN UP. If "RFA DATA?" is displayed, press FAN DOWN. If "RFA OVERRIDE?" is displayed press FAN UP button.

If "RFA S00 NO OVERRIDE" is displayed, press FAN DOWN. If "RFA S01 PROGRAM FOB #1" is displayed, press FAN UP button.

IPC will show "0" on right side of Drivers Information Center (DIC) display. Press WARMER button on the climate control unit until "99" is displayed.

Press and hold TRUNK button on the transmitter. While holding TRUNK button, press LOCK button and hold both buttons for a total of 3 seconds. Locks will cycle when programming is complete. If transmitter is not programmed within 30 seconds after entering "99" on the display, system will default and you must begin at step #2 again.
To program second transmitter, press FAN DOWN button until "RF S02 PROGRAM FOB #2" is displayed, then press FAN UP. Repeat step #4.

To exit system, press AUTO, MODE UP, MODE DOWN, or RESET button.

SOURCE: how do i program a key fob for a 1996 cadillac

I was so frustrated trying to program a remote I purchased online for my 1996 Deville, I could not get it to work. After reading numerous instructions online and also my owner's manual, I finally had all the clues needed to get it to work! Hallelujah!!

I can only offer the instructions for the Digital Instrument cluster, however if you have the analog version, still read step 4 carefully since it applies to both procedures (I had to consult my owner's manual to get that critical part right).

Use these instructions if your DeVille has a Digital Instrument Cluster

1. Put key in ignition and turn to ON (you don't have to start the engine). Dash readouts will come on.

2. Press OFF and WARM buttons on Climate Control Center (CCC) simultaneously. Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) will light all telltales (all segments light up), then they will go blank and come back on, you will now be in DIAGNOSTIC MODE. Press FAN DOWN button to scroll through system until "RFA?" is displayed, then press FAN UP button. Press FAN DOWN button until "RFA OVERRIDE" is displayed, then press FAN UP button. When "NO OVRD RF S00" is displayed, then press FAN UP button again.

3. When "PGM FOBI S01" is displayed, press WARM button and "99" will be displayed in left upper corner of IPC (which is just below the odometer reading). System is now ready to program the remote.

4. On the remote; Press and hold the TRUNK button and WITHIN ONE SECOND press the LOCK button too. Continue to hold both buttons for approximately three seconds. You will hear the door locks cycle when the programming is complete. You may also notice the "99" that was displayed underneath the odometer reading will flash and display "0".

TIP: If you do not program your remote within 30 seconds after doing step 3 (entering "99"override display), the system will default back to a display of "0" under the odometer numbers and you must begin again at step 3.

5. To program second remote, press FAN UP button until "PGM FOBZ S02" is displayed, then follow steps 3 and 4 to program second remote.

To exit system, press RECIRC or RESET button.

TIP: You can program your Remote #1 or Remote #2 for either position. These numbers on the remote do not matter. It's what remote you programmed above that determines if they are now a #1 or a #2.

I did not have a remote for my car until I bought one online. I chose the Remote # 2 because it was less used and worn. It worked just fine both as a #1 and #2 remote for this car.

FYI:

GM part # 16259819 has stamped the # "1" remote.

GM part # 16259829 has stamped the # "2" remote.

Program new key fob for Cadillac cts 2003

There are several methods of doing this - but your 2003 requires that you either go to the dealer for them to add a FOB with special equipment (ask if they'll do it for free - can't hurt). If you have time to kill, you can do it yourself with Method 3 as described and found at:

Key Fob Reprogramming General Cadillac Forums

Method 3 - Key Fob Auto Learn

This procedure will first erase all known key fobs. The procedure will then program a single or multiple key fobs. Method 3 is a series of three 10-minute key cycles, for a total of 30 minutes. This procedure requires that you have a replacement key fob and the vehicle mechanical key.

Important: All previously programmed key fobs will be erased upon completion of the 30-minute programming procedure. The order in which the key fobs are programmed will determine its numbering position within the RCDLR memory. The first key fob programmed will be key fob #1, and the second key fob programmed will be key fob #2. The number stamped on the key fob case is for reference only: #2 can be programmed as #1.
Do not place any known good key fobs in the vicinity of the vehicle when programming with Method 3. If the RCDLR recognizes a known good key fob during Method 3 programming, the programming mode will resort to Method 1.

The vehicle must be OFF.
Place the replacement key fob in the console pocket with the buttons facing forward.
Insert the vehicle key in the driver door lock cylinder located in the driver door handle and cycle the key 5 times within 5 seconds.
The DIC will display a message: OFF/ACC TO LEARN.
Press the OFF/ACC portion of the ignition button.
The DIC will display a message: WAIT 10 MINUTES, then it will count down from 10 to 0, one minute at a time.
When the counter reaches 0, DIC will display OFF/ACC TO LEARN.
Repeat steps 5-7 two more times, for a total of 30 minutes.
The DIC will display a message: OFF/ACC TO LEARN.
Press the OFF/ACC portion of the ignition button.
A beep will occur and the DIC will display: READY FOR FOB 1. At this time all previously known key fobs have been erased. When fob 1 is programmed a beep will be heard and the DIC will display a message: READY FOR FOB 2.
Additional key fobs can be programmed by taking fob 1 out of the pocket and inserting fob 2. If desired, up to 4 fobs can be programmed. Once 4 fobs have been learned, the DIC will display a message: MAX FOBS LEARNED, and automatically exit the program mode.
If learning less than 4 key fobs, press the OFF/ACC portion of the ignition button to exit the program mode.
Operate the active portion of each key fob in order to finalize the programming sequence and verify correct system operation.

Good luck!

How to program keyless entry remote 2001 cadillac deville. replacing both remotes

I have the correct answer for you, but it is probably not what you want to hear. A 2001 Cadillac Deville has NO self-programming procedures for remotes. You can add transponder keys if you have the master key, otherwise you need to go to a professional to get them programmed because they need special equipment to communicate with the vehicle.

I would suggest a locksmith before the dealer as they are usually more affordable. We always recommend an ALOA (Associated Locksmiths of America) member, as their code of ethics means they will treat you fair.

I also suggest avoiding the dealer for the actual key fob remotes for your Cadillac Deville. My company sells factory OEM key fob replacements at a steep discount. Check this link to find your vehicle key fob. https://keylessentryremotefob.com/

Replaced chip on key on 91 DTS and car lost all power while driving. It shut down and nothing works.

There are 4 methods for programming key fobs. Up to 4 key fobs may be programmed to the remote control door lock receiver (RCDLR). Each programmed key fob is given a position of #1-#4 in the RCDLR memory.
Method 1 - Key Fob Quick Learn This procedure will add key fobs. Fobs will be numbered in sequence based on when they are programmed; if 2 fobs are currently programmed to the RCDLR, a fob programmed using this method will be numbered as Fob 3. This procedure requires that you have a known good key fob, a replacement key fob, and the vehicles mechanical key.

Important: This procedure is not available when the maximum number of fobs (4) have been programmed. If 4 key fobs are programmed to this RCDLR and this method is attempted, the driver information center (DIC) will display MAX FOBS LEARNED and the programming procedure will exit. Method 4 must be used in this instance.

The vehicle must be OFF.
Place a known key fob within the interior of the vehicle.
Insert the vehicle key in the driver door lock cylinder located in the driver door handle and cycle the key 5 times within 5 seconds.
The DIC will display a message: READY FOR FOB X (X = fob 2, 3, or 4).
Place the replacement key fob in the console fob pocket with the buttons facing forward.
A beep will occur and the DIC will display: READY FOR FOB X (X = fob 3 or 4) or MAX FOBS LEARNED.
If programming additional key fobs, repeat steps 5 and 6, or press the OFF/ACC portion of the ignition switch to exit programming mode.
Operate the active portion of each key fob in order to finalize the programming sequence and verify correct system operation.

Method 2 - Key Fob Slot Programming

This procedure will add or replace a key fob. Method 2 allows you to choose which location (slot) the unprogrammed fob will be learned to. If you are replacing a key fob, this method will erase the previously known key fob programmed to that particular slot. This procedure requires that you have a known good key fob, a replacement key fob, the vehicle mechanical key, and a scan tool.

Important: This procedure is not available when the maximum number of fobs (4) have been programmed. If 4 key fobs are programmed to this RCDLR and this method is attempted, the DIC will display MAX FOBS LEARNED and the programming procedure will exit. Method 4 must be used in this instance.

The vehicle must be OFF.
Place a known key fob within the interior of the vehicle.
Install a scan tool.
Use the scan tool, to access the following:
• Vehicle Control Systems

• Computer/Integrating Systems

• Module Replacement/Setup

• RCDLR

• Program Key Fobs

Insert the vehicle key in the driver door lock cylinder located in the driver door handle and cycle the key 5 times within 5 seconds.
Select Fob X (X = 1, 2, 3, or 4) on the scan tool. This will be the slot you wish to program to.
Place the replacement key fob in the console pocket with the buttons facing forward. A beep will occur indicating programming completion. The previously known fob is now erased.
If programming additional key fobs, repeat steps 4-8, or press the OFF/ACC portion of the ignition switch to exit programming.
Remove the scan tool.
Operate the active portion of each key fob in order to finalize the programming sequence and verify correct system operation.

Method 4 - Service Programming System Fob Programming

This procedure is a 10-minute relearn procedure using the Techline Terminal with SPS software. Once the 10-minute timer has expired, the fobs can be programmed similar to Method 2 using slot programming. A scan tool, Techline Terminal, and a replacement key fob are required to perform this procedure.

Place the vehicle in the Vehicle On, Engine Off mode.
Connect a scan tool to the vehicle.
Insure that all power consuming devices are turned OFF on the vehicle.
With a scan tool, select Request Info under Service Programming System and follow the scan tool on-screen instructions.
Disconnect the scan tool from the vehicle and connect the scan tool to a Techline Terminal with the current Service Programming System (SPS) software.
Turn the vehicle OFF.
On the Techline Terminal, select Service Programming System and follow the Techline Terminal on-screen instructions. Ensure the correct programming procedure is selected based on component being replaced or programmed. See Important above.
Disconnect the scan tool from the Techline Terminal and re-connect the scan tool to the vehicle.
With a scan tool, select Program ECU under Service Programming System.
At this point the scan tool must remain connected for the duration of the 10 minute relearn procedure.
When the 10 minute relearn procedure has completed, use the scan tool to access the following:
• Vehicle Control Systems

• Computer/Integrating Systems

• Module Replacement/Setup

• RCDLR

• Program Key Fobs

Select Fob X (X = 1, 2, 3, or 4) on the scan tool. This will be the slot you wish to program to.
Place the replacement key fob in the console pocket with the buttons facing forward. A beep will occur indicating programming completion. The previously known fob is now erased.
If programming additional key fobs, repeat steps 12-13, or press the OFF/ACC portion of the ignition switch to exit programming.
Remove the scan tool.
Operate the active portion of each key fob in order to finalize the programming sequence and verify correct system operation.

I'm having a problem trying to get my car started when I try to turn it on starting disabled appears up why?i

The key resistor may be dirty if it has that type of key. I have this type of key on my 1997 Cadillac Deville.

If all else fails, maybe take it to the dealer to see if you can have the key checked out for compatibility with your vehicle.

I understand that multiple fobs have to be programmed into the computer if they don't work right with the vehicle.

2001 Cadillac sedan deVille Frequently will not start on first try. Wait several minutes then starts. Sometimes starts after changing from Key fob 1 to key fob 2

I fought with this issue on my wife's car for almost a year, thinking, ignition, security, starter, changing fobs, etc. I finally caved and replaced the starter - that was it.

When this happens and you turn on the ignition, do the gauges come on,etc? This will help eliminate the ignition switch/circuits as a possible cause.
