I have a 2001 Ford Taurus LX 119.000 MILES. When I am traveling up any grade whatsoever I get a quick sputter every 7 or so seconds apart. Any idea what it could be? The car runs good besides that.

I would guess it's a clogged fuel injector/pump or fuel line. Quick fix to try first get some fuel injector cleaner and fuel enhancement additive and throw them in when you go to fill the tank from there might have to flush the system. But it's super inexpensive for those fluids. Good luck

Either you may be using a key that you had copied from the original or your chip went bad in your original key. Most of cars now a days have the key censor in the key so if it is the incorrect key it will not start your car or if it does not read that chip it will not start

SOURCE: 2003 Ford Taurus, 90K, used car, engines shakes, ABS goes on

Are you getting any codes from the Check Engine Light? This sounds like it could have something to do with a sensor. Check your air filter and make sure it's clean. The tach on my 1999 doesn't really work, but it hasn't coincided with other driveability problems. The engine doesn't change in it's RPM's, the tachometer just stops working. Have your charging system checked. The shaking might be coming from bad fuel pump operation, clogged fuel filter, or dirty fuel injectors. Try putting an additive into your gastank to clean the injectors (a bottle of Seafoam is great for this). Try calling your local Autozone and see if they do free trouble code scanning. This might help lead you in a better direction.

Why does my recently tuned-up 1995 ford taurus with 127,400 miles, cuts out and sputters when I get up to a certain speed.

A couple questions first.. at what speed does it cut out at, and is the cut out consistent at that speed? Just to throw a couple ideas at you to begin with, it could be a plugged fuel filter, because what happens is that the higher speed you travel at, the more pressure it takes to push the gas through the filter. So if it's plugged, you will notice it at higher speeds. If you slow down, the gas will trickle through enough to keep the engine running smoothly. Start there, and if no help, write back and we'll get into some sensors to check. But they are a little more pricey...

Just bought a 2000 ford taurus lx with 85,000 miles. test drive went smooth, after first week i started to hear a bubbling sound from around the right side of the dashboard. the sound has graduated to a...

Thanks for choosing FixYa and welcome. Check your fluid levels on the car. One may be low and causing that sound you hear. More then likely, it needs a tune up. Change the spark plugs, wires, coils, coil pack, and distributor cap. Change the air filter and the fuel filter. Check for vacuum leaks on the engine. Change all your fluids. This will help your car a lot. Spark plugs will help your gas mileage a little, as well as the lack of power. This will help your car greatly.

Oil change on a 2002 ford taurus was overfilled by a mechanic today and in about 11 miles after driving thye lifters where knocking and the crankshaft. be advised this car has 55000 miles and is in perfect...

Overfilling your crankcase with oil can have disastrous effects on your engine.
If the oil level is high enough that the crankshaft passes through it on every rotation it will soon aerate the oil in the oil pan. The air bubbles will travel through the oil pump and into your engine. Air bubbles in your lubrication system will starve your engine bearings and quickly lead to engine failure.
If the engine is already knocking, then the damage may be done.
Sorry.

We have been traveling for 7 hours today in our 2001 Ford Taurus. We had no problems; car did not run hot, got great gas mileage. We made it to our hotel and not the car will not start. It will crank but...

Sounds like the battery is old and got hot from all of the use and charging that was put on it. Next time you drive the car a bit, check the battery with your hand. Be careful it may be really hot. If it is too hot to touch, replace it.

Very reliable cars. We have a 1999 taurus and with regular maintainence and services, we are at 190,000 miles and it still runs great. Travels about 60 miles per day.
