Hello Bobbythegray,

They come in two flavors..

The PRECISE part & method would
require your model...

On the right side of the pulleys, there should be 3 top, middle, and bottom. The middle, smaller one, is the tensioner.

SOURCE: Need to replace the timing belt on my 1994 Ford Escort

I suggest purchasing a repair manual and following the steps in there as there is too great a risk of someone putting it on here and forgetting a step that makes it even more difficult or expensive. The auto parts places will loan you the harmonic balancer puller you will need. I have done two on 94 Escorts and it's not too bad compared to others. I would strongly recommend replacing the crankshaft seal while you have the end of the crank exposed, replacing the seal is in the book too.

All pulleys should be running true. If you have a pulley not centered then replacement is an option.

SOURCE: How to replace tensioner pulley on 2000 Dodge Neon

Make sure you locate the Serpentine Belt Routing Sticker before you proceed. If not make an excellent drawing and take a GOOD Picture. Do NOT try to just remember how it goes back on Should be a 15mm wrench to loosen tensioner to remove belt. Locate mounting bolts to tensioner and remove, replace with NEW tensioner tighten bolts then use wrench arc torque about 15 degrees should snug it down, reroute belt then using 15mm pull tensioner to either side of belt to install belt in correct route. Remove all tools and body parts from engine bay. Do not start engine if anyone is in the vicinity of engine bay. Belt may fly off if you did not do it right and cause all kinds of shrapnell, if it doesn't fly off, visually inspect belt before starting and after, I would suggest being very careful before during and after starting to insure safety.

The v belt wont turn on my 93 ford tempo

If the pulleys are turning, then how are they doing so without the belt turning them? Do you mean the pulleys are free and you can turn them by hand? If so then either the tensioner pulley isn't providing tension to the belt or the idler pulley has spun off and might be missing.

Where is the tension pully on a ford taurus 93?

As you stand outside the engine compartment, facing the serpentine belt part of the motor the "tension pulley" should be in the upper right area of the belt and look like a pulley pressing against and running on the outside of the belt. These are spring tensioners and you need a tool to relieve the tension for easy belt removal and replacement.

Can you tell me where I can print instructions for free to help me change my timing belt in a 93 ford festiva

Here are the instructions for removing the timing cover, and for replacing the timing belt. If this is helpful, please click my accept button! Thanks!
Remove accessory drive belts.
  1. Remove water pump pulley to pump hub attaching bolts, then the pulley.
  2. Remove right inner fender panel to gain access to crankshaft pulley.
  3. Remove outer crankshaft pulley attaching bolts, then the outer stiffener/spacer and outer pulley
  4. Remove inner stiffener/spacer, attaching screws, inner pulley and baffle plate.
  5. Remove attaching bolts, then the upper and lower timing covers.
  6. Reverse procedure to install. When installing crankshaft pulley, ensure curved lip on baffle plate and deep recess of inner pulley face outward

  1. Remove timing belt covers as outlined previously.
  2. Remove timing belt tensioner pulley attaching bolt, then the tensioner pulley, spring and spring cover
  3. If reusing old belt, mark direction of rotation on belt to aid installation.
  4. Remove timing belt from crankshaft and camshaft sprockets.
  5. Check crankshaft and camshaft sprockets, tensioner pulley and timing belt for wear or damage. Replace components as necessary.
  6. Align camshaft and crankshaft sprocket timing marks with marks on cylinder head and oil pump housing
  7. Install timing belt. If reusing old belt, ensure belt is installed so that direction of rotation mark made during removal is positioned correctly.
  8. Install spring and spring cover onto tensioner pulley, then install pulley and attaching bolt. Do not tighten bolt at this time.
  9. Install tensioner spring onto anchor, then tighten pulley attaching bolt to torque listed at the end of this section.
  10. Reinstall timing belt covers.

I need to replace the pulley that puts tension on the belt of a 93 ford f 150 with a 351 engine

Hi:
The basic process to change that pulley is to first loosen and remove the serpentine belt. Make a diagram on paper of the belt path, if there isn't one under the hood on a decal. This is done by putting either a wrench or ratchet on the tensioner, and rotating it away from the direction that it applies pressure to the belt. There is either a square hole to put a ratchet in, or a hex head to attach a wrench. Once you get the belt slipped back, examine the belt to see if it needs replaced. The tensioner assembly is held to the engine with a couple bolts, and can now be removed and replaced. Reinstall the new or old belt, and the last step is to rotate the new tensioner back and slip the last section of belt under it.

93 ford ranger need to remove crankshaft hub to change timing belt.I need to know type and direction of threads of bolt and any other information you can share on this issue.thks

You do not have to remove the harmonic balancer pulley (crackshaft hub) to change your timing belt.

Find your belt tensioner. It will look like this: http://www.bizrate.com/automotive-parts/oid1040178522.html
You put a socket on the head of the bolt that is holding the pulley on the tensioner, and pull it to the left. That will pull the pulley away from the belt so you can remove the belt. The tensioner is under spring tension, so when you release, it will snap back.

You might consider investing in a repair manual available at most auto parts stores for under $20.
