My question: what can cause the car to do this?

We are driving down the street at 45 miles, suddenly the car starts to hesitate, like if it's going to turn off, so I remove my foot from the gas pedal. And about 3 to 5 seconds later the car accelerates from 750 rpms to 2200 rpms(remember I do not have my foot on the gas pedal), the car then hesitates again and drops from 2200 rpms down to 750 rpms. This causes the car to jerk every 3 to 5 seconds violently and continues this pattern with my foot not on the gas pedal.

I assume the car you are talking about is your 1968 Dodge Dart GTS with a 4-speed manual transmission. The engine has a special camshaft, Chrysler P/N 312044, which has a 60 degree overlap in the valve timing, since the engine is built to rev in excess of 6,000 RPM. The problem with your car is obviously a leaky accelerator pump. Why don't you get a car that (1) does not have to run on premium gas (because of its 10.5:1 compression ratio), and (2) uses fuel injectors instead of a wild 4 barrel carburetor made for 1/4 mile drag racing? I happen to know that that is the car you are referring to, because you did NOT say that it WASN'T!

Why didn't you tell me that is was NOT your '68 Dodge Dart GTS 340 Magnum that you were talking about? On an Acura, it sounds like a vacuum leak or maybe a fuel pressure regulator failing or stuck, but it could also be a TPS (throttle position sensor)! Do you see any warning lights such as Check Engine?

After driving at 35 to 45 per mile for 15 to 20 miles the car hesitating, jerking and stop it will start again by permiting it to sit a few minutes

Sounds like a gas tank full of crud. Check gas filter to see if it is dirty. Also water in gas will clog gas tank filter then when car stops water will disburse and collect when engine starts again.

What can make my car do this? Cause I need to go to the mechanic but I don't want to get cheated cause I am a girl who doesnt know anything about cars. I was going over the New Orleans bridge last night,...

There is an electronic problem, that is why the engine light comes on and goes in to limp mode.
Your local dealership (Dodge) could pin point the problem with a diagnostic check, and should not cost you anything.

WHAT IS A TYPICAL BRAKE LIFE FOR NEW 2006 CHEVY MALIBU

Most brake pads on GM products (and just about everyone else's) have little scrapers on the sides of the pads that will cause the brakes to squeak all the time when you wear down to their level. When you hear that constant noise it is time to replace the pads ASAP. If you put it off too long, you will probably end up replacing the rotors too. If you drive like me (jack rabbit starts and sudden stops) the original pads might make it to 35-50,000 miles. If you drive like a granny (slow starts and coasting to a stop) you might be looking at 45-60,000 miles before replacement.

1999 Buick Regal hesitation while driving

most likely it is not actually a misfire it is the overdrive/TCC solenoid kicking on and off, it is a common GM transmission issue
