what tool are you using, ?
the car is not OBD2 but is OBD1, (non standard)
and only factory tools work on that OBD1 port. (full support)
the port in under the hood.....
you will only be able to use the FLASH codes,.
lacking special Toyota tools (its a Corolla in Snake skins(suz)
also there are many ports. most have 2 ports.
one for ECU and one for the transmission, (if electrically shifted)
so ill try to ask the question for you, better.

Toyota had 9 pre 1996 OBD2 cars. but not one is a corolla or prizm.
so is 2 digit flash codes.
OBD1 the DLC port can be in many places, do to OBD1 is not a standard, and the makers of all cars moved it year by year.
until 1996 and federal laws, changed ALL that.
1998 in Canada.

What is year--make--model? Generally 94 model year and older is obd1. 96 and newer is obd2, generally. 95 can be a cross-over year and could have a hybrid diagnostic connector.

Usually with obd2, you need an obd2 code reader. OBD1 you should be able to access some codes, yourself, w/o a code reader. Different makes can have different procedures for accessing codes/obd1.

P1131 Lack of Upstream Heated Oxygen Sensor Switch - Sensor Indicates Lean - Bank No. 1 P1151 Lack of Upstream Heated Oxygen Sensor Switch - Sensor Indicates Lean - Bank No. 2 I would get under your stang and gently clean outside portion of o2 sensors using a scotch brite. Also if you have so dielectric grease pull electrical connections to o2 sensors clean them and add grease. These trick eliminated the o2 sensor OBD1 codes on my 1987 Ford mustang gt

If coil is okay test the TFI module.

Those tests were mostly OBD1,but not avail on all makes and models. I know where your going. Cheap doesn' t work on a high tech product like cars.
