This is F250 front brakes, but it will be the same as on trail blazer, just your parts will be a little smaller.

Most cars use the same routine to change the pads. I would call the repair shop because they'll let you know if there's anything special about your car. There are also forums specific to certain models of car. http://www.alaskanautocenter.com/home

Brake Pads Replacement - Front

Removal Procedure

Caution: Refer to Brake Dust Caution in Service Precautions.

  1. Inspect the brake fluid level in the brake master cylinder reservoir.
  2. If the brake fluid is midway between the maximum-full point and the minimum allowable level, no brake fluid needs to be removed from the reservoir before proceeding.
  3. If the brake fluid level is higher than midway between the maximum-full point and the minimum allowable level, remove the brake fluid with appropriate tool to the midway point before proceeding.
  4. Raise the vehicle. Refer to Vehicle Lifting.
  5. Remove the tire and wheel assembly.

  1. Compress the front brake caliper piston.
6.1. Install a large C-clamp over the top of the brake caliper housing and against the back of the outboard brake pad. 6.2. Slowly tighten the C-clamp until the piston pushes into the brake caliper enough to slide the brake caliper off the rotor. 6.3. Remove the C-clamp from the brake caliper.
  1. Remove the lower mounting bolt from the slide pin.
  2. Rotate the brake caliper upward until it stops.
  3. Remove the outboard brake pad.
  4. Remove the inboard brake pad.
  5. Remove the brake pad retaining clips from the brake caliper mounting bracket.
  6. Remove the brake pad retaining clip from the brake caliper.
  7. Remove all foreign material from the brake caliper using denatured alcohol.
Installation Procedure

Important: When installing new brake pads, DO NOT reuse the old retaining clips for the brake pad. Use only NEW brake pad retaining clips.

  1. Install the brake pad retaining clips to the brake caliper mounting bracket.
  2. Install the brake pad retaining clip to the brake caliper.
  3. Ensure that the brake pad retaining clip in the brake caliper is properly seated.
  4. Install the inboard brake pad.
  5. Install the outboard brake pad.
  6. Rotate the brake caliper down into position.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

  1. Install the lower brake caliper mounting bolt.
    • Tighten the brake caliper mounting bolt to 51 Nm (38 ft. lbs.) .
  1. Install the tire and wheel assembly.
  2. Lower the vehicle. Refer to Vehicle Lifting.
  3. Fill the brake master cylinder reservoir. Caution: Refer to Firm Brake Pedal Caution in Service Precautions.
  4. Pump the brake pedal slowly and firmly to seat the brake pads.
  5. Burnish the new brake pads.

SOURCE: I change the front pads to my chevy trailblazer

Sounds like it could be the caliper sticking. Did the vehicle pull to one side or the other? Try lubricating the caliper piston under the rubber boot. Work the piston in and out a few time. I use a large C-clamp to compress the piston. Let me know if it helped.

Replacing front brake pads

So what is the question?
You squeeze the pads to retract the piston/s with a channel lock pliers, then remove pad retainers or caliper retainers depending, to remove the pads.
Then put new pads in and reverse.
If not sure, do only one side, and use other as guide for reassembly.
Don't turn rotors unless badly scarred up from metal contact, because you can only machine rotors once, and even then they are not as good as they were.

Loud noise coming from back passenger side wheel when backing up

sounds more like a brake wear sensor. The inner pads wear faster than the outer, so if you are checking pad wear, be sure to look at the inner pad. If you just had brake work done, one of the anti rattle clips on a pad may be contacting the brake rotor.

2002 Lincoln LS rotors keep warping

Warpage can be caused by many reasons, such as getting real hot ( normal ), and you driving though a nice cold puddle. INSTANT warp. Also tightening wheel lug nuts too tight can warp rotors. Should be tighten with a torque wrench to factory spec.

Front brakes shudder a fair bit when braking, even lightly. There hasn't been any whining of brake pads or anything. I am going to change the pads, but how do I know if I need to replace the rotors?...

It seems now a days that everyone loves to turn rotors, the only reason to turn a rotor is if it is running out, what this means is that
it is moving back and forth and not in a straight line. What a brake tec is suppose to do is place a dial caliper on the rotor and spin it and see if it is running out,if it is then it must be turned,as long as the rotor is not under the mfg min width. Any vibration, pulsing, shudder,
would tell me that it needs to be turned, just wanted to explain the reason behind it. Any other questions please post back as everyone is more than happy to help.

Front brakes

Antilock brake systems don't like fluid pushed back through the system.

You should follow good standard practice, by blocking and ensuring the car is stable and safe.

When the wheel is removed, clamp off the flexible brake fluid line. When you push he caliper back to change the pads, do it with the bleed screw open and catch the fluid that comes out. When the caliper is fully depressed, close the bleed screw up. Change the pads, ensure you put anti-squeel on the outter surfaces. Inspect the clips, ensure they are all seated properly.

Check the runout on the rotor, make sure it's not warped. Get them turned or replace them as necessary.

When done, reinstall everything and remove the clamp.

Start the truck, pump the brakes a few times to get fluid back to the front calipers. Inspect the fluid level in the resivoiour to ensure enough fluid is there.

Do some safe test brakes to ensure all is ok.
