Are you loosing radiator fluid. sometimes the heater core will rupture and you will smell burn odor. also check for strange rubbing sounds or screeching coming from the blower fan motor. or engine exhaust manifolds are hot when car is on, make sure nothing is leaning on them which will cause a burn odor. Any odor coming from outside will find it's way inside through the fresh air vents.
have an accredited ac shop as an ac cannot produce hot air only cold air so that means that the ac is not working (leaks low on gas etc). The hot air is from the heater in the car and the smell is probably wire overheating or the resistors are burning.
it will be one of two things...............either your brakes are sticking on slightly (frozen caliper) and its heating up because of the drag.................or the wheel bearings are shot and heating up when you drive it.................. that's all it can possibly be. If you aren't good with the tools then its off to the garage for this issue.
Pull the blower motor out and clean out the leaves and other vegetable matter that has gotten in there, it is burning off on the very hot blower motor resistor coils
It appears your fan itself burned out. When a field coil of an electrical fan burns out it usually makes a lot of smoke. The noise could be something that fell in there that stopped the fan from turning freely. I can imagine it heated up under the strain and burned out.
When you restarted it was burnt out so hence no noise and no fan. The smell of the smoke should also be clue. Electrical field coils burning has an awful soury type of smell.
If the blower motor is still working, that was not the problem-the strange smell might have been from some bacteria in the plenium, and the smoke may have just been the result of condensation from the evaporator in the plenium-keep an eye on it, but if the blower is working, I would not be overly concerned about it.
Your air vent drains are plugged. The drain tubes empty into the engine compartment or into the wheel wells behind the plastic slop covers. The best way to clean them is from the top.If you can locate where the tubes come out you open the drains from the bottom with a piece of wire. By taking off the windshield wipers and the vent cover in front of the wind shield you can scoop out the leaves, mud, debris, etc. and clean out the tubes with a piece of wire washing the left over stuff slowly out the bottom with a pitcher of water. This should help stop the growth of the mold. With out disassembly of the dash it will be hard to clean everything out. Perhaps febreeze in the vent help help remove most of the smell.
sounds like your heater core has a leak in it. take your sunroof off and get some rubber revitalizer at a glass shop. Try cleaning it and using the rubber rejuvenator on it.
