Gas cap code p0449 ??? This is not a gas cap code ! DTC P0449: Evaporative Emission (EVAP) Vent Solenoid Control Circuit.. your best bet , take it to a qualified chevy repair shop .

Had the same problem. Ck eng light came on. Code read p0449.. It said something about rear solenoid located behind gas intake. Took it to an auto shop ready to give up a few hundreds, they laughed, erased the code and told me to change my gas cap. I ordered one from Amazon. Light came back. Finally Put on. Ck light stayed on and A few days later finally disappeared.

Have you changed your fuel cap? That is usually the culprit. If that doesn't solve your issue, a simple smoke test will show you where the system is leaking.

Error code P0449 07 chevy impala ltz

Check engine light code P0449. check engine light ison,autozone says code is P0449 this is whattheir ticket says: The PCM has determined that a malfunction exists in the electrical circuit for the vent valve/solenoid in the evaporative emission control system.

Easiest and probably cheapest way is to purchase a OBD II code scanner. You can get one at autozone or online for fairly reasonable. They are good to have on hand for future repairs. Most have the option to clear codes.

Your best bet take it to a qualified repair shop . It takes special tool's to diagnose evaporative emission system's .

p0443 is evaporative emission control system, purge control curcuit malfunction, p0449 is emission control system, vent control curcuit malfunction. p0449 is often a filler cap problem on fuel tank. try tightening cap
