SOURCE: cigar lighter problem on 2005 Ford Explorer

even though the fuse is good, change it anyway and look for other bad fuses. it is possible that someone rewired and put wired them somewhere else. i just saw that yesterday. also, check to make sure a wire did not fall off or get broken/fried. if both power points are not working they are connected to the same power and ground points, whereby creating a circle/circuit. also check to see if one of the units is bad. if it take two to complete the circuit/circle and one unit is bad, maybe the circle/circuit is broken. you can test the units with two jumper wires and your battery/a jump box. these units are only + and -.

SOURCE: The cigar lighter isn't working how do I fix this problem

This is a fuse problem, check the fuse, it will either be marked lighter or power point, the fuse box is to the left of the steering column it has a plastic cover over it, inside the cover the fuses will be marked on a diagram. If the fuse blows again the cigar lighter is shorted, you will have to replace it, most times the lighter element is the problem and not the well it fits into.

SOURCE: Cigarette lighter not working properly in Pontiac...

This is a very common issue, either the ground at the back of the lighter socket is pulled off, or more likely the socket is defective, they are very easy to change, u can use a generic replacement from any parts store, the factory part will be at least 2X as much..

SOURCE: Toyota Caldina 2001 no power to cigar lighter, radio, clock!

Hi there
If it was the front dash mounted lighter socket you used, the correct fuse is the 15A CIG & RADIO fuse (at the end of the second row) of the dash fusebox. If replacing the fuse hasn't fixed it, you may need to look closer at the wiring from the fusebox as it's likely the wiring has gone open circuit.
Take the fuse out and check for voltage at the terminals in the fusebox with the ingition key turned to the ACC position. One terminal or the other will have 12V on it. If no voltage on either you have a fusebox to ignition key wiring problem. Check for voltage on the ACC pin of the ignition switch, with the key turned to the ACC position. That's pin 3, a blue wire, of the 8 pin ignition switch connector. If still no volatge the switch is likely faulty. the voltage into the switch must be there as it also feeds the ECU and IGN systems, so the car wouldn't run at all if it wasn't.

There is another possibility. If you have an alarm system, immobilizer or turbo timer (assuming the GTT model) these devices could be interrupting the power lines and be the culprit devices.

I assume it wasn't the rear hatch area lighter socket you used, because the fuse for that doesn't power the radio or clock. The fuse for that socket is the 15A ACCESSORY fuse in the passenger side footwell fuse panel.

Ford fiesta 1.2 zetec 2012 as soon as you plug anything in cigarette lighter socket it blows 20amp cartridge fuse f30 must be a short carnt find any wire colours from fuse box to trace, not in manual.

Maybe something wrong with cigar lighter socket? The top wire is voltage, bottom is ground for cigar lighter. If the voltage circuit was shorted to ground, it would blow the fuse w/o anything plugged in. If the component your plugging into the cigar lighter is drawing too much, it will blow the fuse.

12v aux power outlet not working

Note the diagram. See the power point and cigar lighter, is that what your talking about? The top wire to component is voltage, bottom wire is ground. As you can see, the cigar lighter gets voltage from a fuse.

2007 Ford E350 XLT Super Duty. There are 2 cigar lighters. Are they on different fuses?

it is more than likely because cigarette lighters draw high amperage and to have 2 on the one fuse would defeat the purpose of having fuses
check to see that one is not a cigarette lighter but an aux power outlet for phone charger or light etc

The fuse is fine, but when i put the car charger in it still doesnt work my car is a 2002 pontiac bonneville

Most car chargers have a fuse in the part that plugs in. you can unscrew the tip and check the fuse. But first plug in another charger and see if it works.

Power Point on 97 Ford F150 does not work. Cig lighter does work. Based on fuse schematic they both appear to run off the same fuse. Is this correct? If so, what might the problem be?

The owners manual lists :

Cigar lighter / DTC plug :Cab fuse panel Fuse #3, 25 A
Aux Power Point : Engine compartment fuse # 10, 25 A

Cigarette lighter not working

Have you tried plugging something like a phone charger into the lighter socket to make sure there is power there to start with ?

If there is power then either the cigar lighter element is shot or there is a bad joint which is breaking down when the cigar lighter load is applied
