One of two things cause this corroded or poor chassis earth at the bulb holders or the circuit board that holds the bulb is faulty.

SOURCE: brake lights/rear turn signals

I had the same problem with my 1999 Yukon. The electric board needed to be replaced. Rust starts to build up and shorts out or blows the bulb. The dealership charged $73.60 for the part and I installed it myself (Saved $30).

SOURCE: Brake lights quit working.

if all fuses and bulbs are ok get to the brake switch and see ifits stiff or stuck, if it just has two wires on it you could join themtogether to see if the brake lights come on though obviuosly dont leave them joined.Good luck davelee

SOURCE: bottom brake lights and hazard lights do not come on. All other lights work including top brake lights. Fuses and bulbs checked.

Check for power out of brake light switch by brake pedal. Of its faulty , the 3rd brake light will still work. Hope this helps

SOURCE: 2003 Toyota Camry - Both Brake lights not working

Lok in the trunk on the left side, behind the carpet for a small plastic box with a bunch of wires going to it. Look to see if there is brake light powe coming in with the pedal depressed. If so, and no power is coming out, you need to order and replace the "taillamp failure sensor".

My brake lights on my 2003 Yukon do not work....the 3rd light works, i replaced the Brakelight switch and checked fuses. Do anyone know what may be the issue?

Chances are the problem is the turn signal switch.
Someone would need to check the circuits going in and out.
The third brake light passes by the switch, the rest go thru it.

Did you check the brake and signal light bulbs? If something happened that blew a fuse, chances are you probably lost some bulbs too. that should fix your problem
