2007 Rav4, 41,700 miles. Today car will not start. Does not "turn over" or make sound when attempt to turn ignition. Lights go on, door open alarm goes on, interior lights work. Noticed today keyless entry will not lock car only unlock. Have to lock manually. Took to shop, 2 fuses replaced one for fuel injection other for audio. Repair person also reset keyless/alarm system. Still will not start. Battery checked out ok.

VW golf battery replacement - horn/alarm going off when reconnecting.

I suggest you try inserting the ignition key and turning the key to the fully on position before connecting the new battery. Ensure the door is left open.

If the alarm still sounds then starting the engine or attempting to start it might cancel the alarm.
Reading the vehicle handbook could provide more information.

How to set & cancel theft deterrent system or how to set & cancel security...

Theft deterrent system (on some models)

Theft deterrent system is designed to deter vehicle theft. The system flashes the turn signal lights and turns on the interior light or the signal lights only (depending on the model), and sounds security horn and vehicle horn when it detects abnormalities such as follows:

• Any door or hood is forcibly opened.
• The batter terminal is disconnected and then reconnected
• The system control is disconnected and then reconnected.
• Abnormal impact is detected when the impact sensor function is on.

The system flashes the turn signal lights and turns the interior light or the signal lights only (depending on the model), and sounds security horn and vehicle horn if someone attempts to damage or break into your car.

Setting the system

You can set the system with or without the impact sensor function. For details, see "Canceling the impact sensor" below.

1. Turn the ignition key to "LOCK" and remove it.
2. Have all passengers get out of the vehicle
3. Push the lock (set) switch on the wireless remote control key once. At this time, the turn signal lights flashes once and the security indicator light comes on.

The system is set after 30 seconds. At this time, the security indicator light start flashing slowly.

Once the system is set, you cannot start the engine until you cancel the system.

The system will not be set in the following cases.

• When any of the door is open; security horn sounds for 1 second, close the door and set the system again.
• When the hood is open; close the hood securely.

Canceling the Impact Sensor

The impact sensor can be cancelled to prevent false alarms from being triggered incase of the following conditions:

• When parked in the noisy area
• The vehicle body or glass is subjected to a strong impact from the (such as in highly pressurized car wash).
• When transporting by a car carrier or ferry.

To cancel the impact sensor;

1. Lock the door by pushing the lock (set) switch on the wireless remote control key once, and turn signal light flash once
2. Then push the lock (set) switch twice within 5 seconds. At this time, the turn signal flash 5 times to indicate the impact sensor function is disable.

The impact sensor is deactivated as long as the system remained armed.

Canceling the system

The system will be cancelled by the following two ways:

• Turn the ignition key from "LOCK" to "ON" position.
• Unlock any of the doors by pushing the unlock (cancel) switch

If the turn signal lights flash 3 times, the system has been alarmed. Check to see if there is any abnormality with your vehicle.

If any of the doors is not opened within 30 seconds, all doors will be automatically locked and the system will be set.

When the system is set

Activating the system; When the system detects abnormalities such as follows, it flashes the turn signal lights and turns on the interior light or the turn lights only (depending on the model) and sounds the security horn and vehicle horn of 30 seconds.

• Unlocking any door without using wireless control
• Any door or hood is forcibly opened.
• The battery terminal is disconnected and then reconnected.
• The system control assembly is disconnected and then reconnected
• Abnormal impact is detected when the impact sensor function is on.

Reactivating the alarm;

Once set, the system automatically resets the alarm after the alarm stops.

The alarm will activate again under the same circumstances described in "Activating the system".

Stopping the Alarm

The alarm will be stopped by the following two ways;

• Turn the ignition key from the "LOCK" to "ON" position.
• Unlock any of the doors by pushing the unlock (cancel) switch.

The system can be cancelled by these ways at the same time.

If the battery becomes discharged due to the vehicle being unused, for a long time etc., when the battery is recharged or replaced, the system will activate the alarm. If this happens, immediately unlock any of the doors by pushing the unlock (cancel) switch, and the alarm will stop.

Testing the system

1. Set the system
2. Insert a wireless remote control key into the key hole on the driver's door handle, and unlock the door.
3. Open the door, and an alarm will sound.
4. Stop the alarm by pushing the unlock (cancel) switch.
5. Repeat this operation for the front passenger's door.

Good luck.

How do I reset the alarm on a 2005 hyundai Santa 2.4l

Not sure about yours, but many will reset by: turn key to "on" and wait 15 minutes or so; shut off, then try to start.

Alarm comes on when I turn ignition and car won't start, Alarm gone haywire

may be the battery, since all the components work off of it you need to check all connections, low battery, batterys are only good , if you have a 3 yr old battery, it is only going to be good for 3 yrs, or less, depends on how long it set on the shelf.

the problem seems to be the door switches which are not working giving fasle alarm to anti theft device. use contact cleaners on the door switch with the cabin light active on door open. you may then evaluate wether working or not. check all the doors one by one

Car won't start

Yes the imobeliser and alarm ar all part of the anti theft device. Both are either disabled with your key or a remote. If it's remote button you press then it may just need a new battery. If it's remote central locking then alway's open the door with the remote and not the key.

Alarm sounds everytime key removed from ignition?

There is a switch either in or on the driver door that turns on the interior lights and tells the module the door is open and the key is still in the ignition, this sounds the alarm, check all the doors and make sure they turn the interior lights on and off when the doors are opened and closed.
