run fault codes and check for cam/crank position sensor check that the cam shaft is turning (broken timing belt/chain) Check immobliser operation.

They should be on the cam and crank

All gm V-6 engines have chains except for the older 3.4 liter DOHC engines.

Hi if the timing belt broke the car would just cut out and not start again

there is a tensioner pully that puts (tension) on the belt should have a 3/4 bolt when you apply pressure the belt will loosen just slip it off then the same to put it on

the 2005 pont, grand prix, doesnt have a timing belt, rather it has a timing chain, this chain is good for 150,000 or more miles.

This vehicle does not have a timing belt it has a timing chain.You can go to the library and get a book or if you want to buy one you can usually get one at any part stores for about 15 bucks.Hope this helps.Good luck.
