SOURCE: 2003 Ford Focus ZX5 Steering Wheel

All you need is two inexpensive things to fix this. 1. Hammer and 2. WD-40. First, put the key in the ignition and tap it with the hammer. (this should unlock the steering wheel and the iginition) Second, spray some WD-40 in the key opening on the ignition, then put the key in again and proceed to tap it some more with the hammer. (WHEN I SAY TAP THE HAMMER I DO NOT MEAN HIT IT WITH FULL FORCE)... Any who keep put WD-40 and tapping it until you can turn the key without the help of the hammer... (should be at least 4 times) THE PROBLEM IS THAT WITH TIME DEBRI BUILDS UP IN THE IGNITION, AND THIS CAUSES THE STEERING TO LOCK UP WHEN YOU PLACE THE KEY IN THE IGNITION. THE HAMMER UNLOCKS THE SPRINGS IN THE IGNITION AND THE WD-40 CONVERTS THE DEBRI TO LIQUID SO IT CAN CLEAN THE IGNITION...

SOURCE: zx5 2004 ford focus alternator broken

disconnect the battery & make sur you have your radio code, then remove the belt.
it's pretty simple there's a nut in the middle of the tensioner wheel, get the right size socket & using a ratchet, move the tensioner by locking the rathet & do or undo the nut, as it's a fixed nut used to swivel the tensioner.
Then undo the wiring on the back of the alternator, usually a click in multiplug and a + power cable boted on with a 10mm nut.
then remove anything in the way of the alternator securing bolts, & remove the bolt's, alternator should be free !
But I don't suggest you do it yourself unless you have a reasonable grasp of mechanics, as I have had to do this job properly after some people have tried themselves & they've made it worse, plus once the belt's off you have no power sterring so you can't drive it to the garage if you can't get the belt back on !

SOURCE: loose steering wheel

Disconnect negative battery cable(10mm).
Insert key and rotate steering wheel until one of the mounting bolts for the airbag are visible from the backside (7/32 or 5.5 mm).Unscrew and rotate 180 degrees until the other is visible.Pry airbag off with a small screwdriver (being very careful) release yellow connector and place airbag aside with leather or vinyl pointing up.
Use a 24mm socket and tighten to 37 ft.pounds.
Reverse procedure to re-install airbag.
Connect cable and remember the computer will have to relearn its settings so car may run different for a while..

I have a 2005 Ford Focus ZX5 and when driving and picking up speed it has a loud humming sound coming from under the floor board wheel bearings seem okay. Any ideas on what else could be wrong?

Question edited for clarity.
Question moved to model category.

Wheel bearing are the most likely. If you just jack up the car, you will feel movement or roughness. The other possibility is the transmission. check the oil level or ATF level.

Ideas here, also mechanics have magnetic microphone kits to pinpoint noise.

How do you fix a steering wheel adjustment lever? it will not lock the wheel in place. is there some way to tighten it so it locks?

To fix a steering wheel adjustment lever that will not lock the wheel in place, you will need to determine the cause of the issue. Here are some possible causes and steps you can take to fix the problem:
  1. Loose or damaged parts: If the steering wheel adjustment lever is not locking in place due to loose or damaged parts, you may need to tighten or replace them. Check the adjustment lever and surrounding parts for looseness or damage, and consult the manual or a mechanic if you are unsure how to proceed.
  2. Worn or damaged gear: If the gear mechanism that controls the movement of the steering wheel adjustment lever is worn or damaged, it may not be able to lock the wheel in place. In this case, you may need to replace the gear or have the mechanism repaired by a mechanic.
  3. Cable or linkage issue: If the issue is with the cable or linkage that connects the adjustment lever to the gear mechanism, you may need to adjust or replace these parts. Check for any visible damage or looseness, and consult the manual or a mechanic if you are unsure how to proceed.
If you are unable to fix the issue yourself, it is recommended to have a mechanic diagnose and repair the problem, as improper repairs can lead to safety issues while driving.

2002 ford zx5. low pressure side for A/C is on the passenger wheel well area... is there any special attachments or tools needed other than the hose that comes with the R134?

Just the hose that comes with it, but the freon can be best monitored with a gauge attached to it,some cans of freon come with the gauge some do not, its best to use the ones that do for a novice, because
you don't want to over fill your ac system with freon, an overfilled system will loose its cooling ability as
well as damaging components from higher pressures. good luck!
