Screeching noise While driving my front right tire/wheel area starting screeching loudly, the noise would only happen while I was moving and was unchanged whether I had the brakes applied or not, or had the clutch engaged or not. When I turned the steering wheel all the way one direction something thumped softly, and now it's not making the noise. I took off my wheel and can't find any signs of grinding or scoring anywhere on the suspension or brake rotor. I'm inexperienced and have suspicions it's the cv halfshaft but just want some input from someone who may know what it could be. Thanks.

If your C/V joint is going bad it will make a nasty clicking sound and get louder the longer you leave it unattended.If this noise went away it could have been something stuck it the moving area of your wheel and just worked itself out.Keep an ear out for the noise to return,it it dosen't come back be happy.

It could be several things, and I'm going to assume that the vehicle is front wheel drive.

First possibility is the constant velocity joint on the driver's side is worn out.

Second possibility is the wheel bearing on the driver's side.

As to the shaking at 70+mph, you may have an alignment problem, or some issues with the suspension components on that side of the car.

Does the noise get worse when accelerating from a stop, and turning, at the same time?

My 1997 GMC jimmy is making a loud noise it seems to be coming from the passenger side front tire I check the hub it spinng good
If the problem is at the wheel, two possible causes are a bad wheel bearing or worn brake pads. Both of these noises will only be experienced with the vehicle on the ground and moving. Also, if this is a FWD truck and it only occurs when accelerating, it can also be caused by a failing drive axle or bad transfer case bearing.

your front brakes are wore out and the wear indcator is rubbing against the rotor making the noise you hear.

05 wrangler grinding/screeching
it could be your brakes , on most brakes there is a wear tab that makes a high pitched squeeling noise when it contacts the rotor. this is in place to let you know your brakes are due for replacement. if it is not your brakes then it could be a wheel bearing.

Screeching noise coming from driver side tire
The high pitch sound may come from the brake pads as metal parts hit the disc to signal the owner that it needs change. The metal parts gets exposed when the pads have worn out. The brake also has a hub to cover the disc. See if the metal plate is hitting it but this issue would appear when the wheels are in motion. Check if it is the belts, have the tension checked out. Other than that the bearings are the other items on your wheel that could cause a high pitched sound when you car is in motion.
