2003 VW Golf - O2 Sensor?

I have a 2003 VW Golf and my check engine light is on. I had a mechanic read the codes - P0036 and P0141. I know it's the Oxygen Sensor - Bank 1 Sensor 2. How much will this cost to replace? And how important is it?

Honestly it is not very expensive to replace, but it is not extremely important. What it does is measure the oxygen/fuel level coming out of the engine. This tells the computer that the engine is either using the right air/fuel mixture or allows the computer to change the mixture slightly to allow the car to run properly. You could pull the sensor out and clean the terminal as it usually has alot of carbon build up due to its location, but this is normally a temporary fix. I hope this helps you with your problem.

Hi, I am getting Faulty codes P0036, P0056, P0141, P0161 in reference Bank 1 and Bank 2 for sensors 2 on 2003 CTS.I was told the sensors where changed but codes still appear?

If the sensors were replaced an DTC'S come back has to be a wiring problem or PCM ,
The ECM detects that the HO2S heater low control circuit voltage is between 2.6-4.6 volts when the heater is commanded OFF, indicating an open HO2S heater circuit.
Is the fuse open?
All four codes refer to the heating element circuit ! there is a relay in the under hood fuse box that supplies B+ voltage to the O2 sensor heating elements . I would change that or test the relay , videos on you tube on testing relays .
MAIN Relay

LO SPEED Relay, HI SPEED Relay, S/P FAN Relay, PRE O2 Fuse, IGN-1 Fuse, ECM Fuse, POST O2 Fuse, and INJ Fuse
Also check

HO2S Bank 1 Sensor 2 and HO2S Bank 2 Sensor 2

2006. hard shifting, bogging on accelaration. Where should I start on troubleshooting these codes?

http://www.obd-codes.com/p0141 P0443 Evaporative Emission Control System Purge Control Valve Circuit P0036 HO2S Heater Control Circuit Bank 1 Sensor 2 P0030 HO2S Heater Control Circuit Bank 1 Sensor 1 http://www.obd-codes.com/p0135 http://www.obd-codes.com/p0102
It looks like you have two bad O2 sensors an a bad mass air flow sensor . Is your vehicle a 4 cylinder or 6 0r 8 cylinder ? Bank 1 sensor 1 an bank 1 sensor 2 heater circuits . plus you have a EVAP. emission purge control circuit problem ! I would go on you tube an enter your trouble codes to see videos on testing

WORKING ON 2005 CHEVY COLORADO 3.5, SEVERAL CODES, P0030, P0036, P0135, P0141, ODD ALL O2 SENSOR CODES, ANY HING COMMON

Yes there is something in common . Check the fuse # 79 10amp in the underhood fuse box . For O2 sensor , heater power .
The PCM commands the heater ON or OFF to maintain a specific HO2S operating temperature range. The PCM monitors the voltage on the HO2S heater low control circuit for heater fault diagnosis. If the PCM detects that the HO2S heater low control circuit voltage is not within a specified range, DTC P0030 sets for HO2S 1, or DTC P0036 sets for HO2S 2.
So this is not in spec. an it set the other codes !
If the PCM detects that the heater current or the heater calculated resistance is not within an expected range, DTC P0135 sets for HO2S 1
If the PCM detects that the heater current or the heater calculated resistance is not within an expected range, DTC P0141 sets for HO2S 2.

Check your fuse and replace any that are burnt out. It is possible that it your heater on your O2 sensor shorted that it blew the fuse.

code p0054 is
Possible causes - Faulty Heated Oxygen Sensor Bank 1 Sensor 2
- Heated Oxygen Sensor Bank 1 Sensor 2 harness is open or shorted
- Heated Oxygen Sensor Bank 1 Sensor 2 circuit poor electrical connection
When is the code detected?Heater current requirements too low or high in the heated oxygen sensor (HO2S) heater control circuit Symptoms- Engine Light ON (or Service Engine Soon Warning Light)
code p0141 is O2sensor heater circuit malfunction( bank one sensor 2)
there is chance that wire from that sensor is touching, part of your exhaust system, and either is open or shorting to ground

code p0036

Could someone tell me what the error codes P0141 P0036 on a 2003 Jetta means? thx

The error codes you have are for the O2 Sensors. There is one before and after the catalytic converter. It is usually the first O2 sensor that is the problem because the second sensor is used just to verify the converter is working. The O2 sensors are usually $60 to $130 dollars depending on the type your vehicle uses. they are located on the downpipe on the exhaust system and the other is locted after the catalytic converter on the exhaust system. The O2 sensor not working will cause you gas mileage to be reduced because the car's computer will run the fuel mixter rich.

2003 VW golf o2 sensor?

Yes, it could be something else, other than the converter, such as a faulty o2 sensor. Take your VW to Autozone or Advance auto, and ask them to a do a scan, to see what they come up with ( think it's free).
