SOURCE: location of spark plugs in 2005 dodge dakota

To change the sparks on a 2005 4.7L Dodge Dakota you will need the following:

  • Spark plug socket
  • Ratchet
  • Torque wrench
  • Extension
  • Flat-tip screwdriver
  • Make sure the truck is cold!!!

Note you will have to remove the air intake located at the top of the engine, and will have to move some of the coolant lines out of the way.

At the top of the engine there are 4 sparks on each side. The coils are held in place with a 10mm bolt. Undo the 10mm bolt and unclip the coil. Next pull out the coil.

Insert the socket, with extension into the spark plug hole.

Remove spark plug.

Check the gap on new spark plug, it should match stock.

tighten to approximately 25ft.lbs. (check spark-plug packaging for exact torque requirements).

repeat this process with all other sparks.

be sure that no dirt gets into the spark plug holes.

What type of oil is in a 5speed manual transmission on a1993 dodge Dakota? also, where is the reverse light switch located?

it depends on which transmission you have. the NP2500 uses 10w-30 if i remember right. I don't remember if a the NP2500 was an option in 93'. The AX-15 uses syncromesh, 10w-30 synthetic, Redline MTL, 75w-90 GL3 or GL4. DO NOT USE GL-5 oils. Dodge/Chrysler books made a mistake on this. From experience GL-5 oil make the brass syncro-rings sticky. Toyota used the same transmisison and calls for GL-3 or GL-4 oils. I've been using Redline MTL for about 50k miles. It shifts smoother and and doesn't get sticky when very cold. If it has the NV3550 transmission, it uses the syncromesh or Redline MTL oil.

Engine light is on in my 2005 dodge dakota just wondering why should i be worried

The check engine light will come on for a wide range of things. It means that the on board computer has detected a problem. May be as simple as a loose gas cap or something more serious. You should get hte code(s) retrieved as soon as possible as some problems if not fixed early will cause further damage to other components and could end up being ver expensive. Depending on where oy live some auto parts stores will read the codes for you. If you need help after getting the codes just come back and add a comment to this thread.

I have a 1996 dodge dakota an it sputters to a stop rpms drop real bad then it goes back to normal stalls out two block away and wont crank over it seems like it wants to but wont turn over im gettin a...

There is a idle control valve that may need replacement, This is a 50 dollar part and easy to install. Before that try running 5 in 1 STP gas additive first. If you have been putting in cheap gas this might be part of the issue. Chevron gas only for a while.

Headlight switch?

It's possible it's the headlight switch, but I would suspect the central timing module (CTM), Chrysler's version of the BCM for 2003. It's located behind the kick panel to the left of the driver's feet, and is held in by three screws. Replacements (used/rebuilt but most warranteed) are available on eBay at
https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=p2380057.m570.l1313.TR0.TRC0.H0.X2003+dakota+ctm.TRS0&_nkw=2003+dakota+ctm&_sacat=6000

Get the part number from yours, and ensure you get the same part NUMBER, suffix letters may vary (especially the last letter). Make sure you are NOT getting a BASE version (marked on the part number label) if you have power door locks, etc.
