How to get alternator out of 98 kia sepia

Disconnect the battery ,remove wire and plugs going to the alternator , ,relate the belt tensioner remove belt,check the condition of it,undo the bolts holding it to the motor,remove old and fit new o.ne

FIRST YOU MUST MAKE SURE THAT YOUR CLUTCH CYLINDER IS PUSHING YOUR PRESSURE PLATE ON THE TRANSMISSION... OR IT WILL SEEM LIKE YOUR CLUTCH IS WORN OUT WHEN ITS NOT. THEN REMOVE THE TRANSMISSION AND REPLACE THE CLUTCH.. YOU WILL NEED THE PLASTIC CLUTCH INSTALLATION GUIDE TO SET THE CLUTCH AND HAVE IT HOLD IN PLACE AS YOU PUT THE TRANSMISSION IN... IF YOU DONT HAVE A SECOND PERSON TO HELP YOU.. IT IS SAFER TO PAY A MECHANIC TO DO THE WORK VERSUS YOU GETTING HURT.. SOME MECHANICS JUST CHARGE 150 TO REPLACE AND CLUTCH COST THE SAME OR LESS. All above is Bull Sxxxt. Isuzu bighorn Alternator belt only drives water pump (fan) and alternator. Size of belt is 17x1000 and its a tight fit onto pulleys so it makes you think its wrong belt, but trust me its not. As if you get 17x1025 or 17x1050 belt you wont get it tight correctly due to not enough adustment on alternator. To change/adjust the belt very simple. Loosen 3 bolts (14mm socket) on power steering pump (its 2 belts that diving power steering and air con), loosen tensioner on p/s pump. Remove those 2 belt - to get access to alternator belt adjustment bolts. There are 2 bolts you will need to loosen One at the bottom of alternator (14mm socket and 25mm extension bar to get it easier) another one is 12mm on tensioner rail. Than adjust tension by screwing 12mm long bolt that mounted across the tensioner rail until you get tension correct. Correct tension is about 68kg. But i do it just to get it nicely tight without too much of sag. REMEMBER DO NOT OVERTIGHTEN the belt as you will crush berings on water pump or alternator.

if its the canister type,stick a screwdriver into it and turn to the left, wipe the new can rubber with oil before fitting then screw it up by hand, NOT TOO TIGHT,check for leaks when engine hot.

remove the filter and be sure the is a rubber gasket attached, if so rub a bit of oil on it before replacing, being certain that interior threads are clean and not stripped ( if so replace filter) only turning hand tight, no not overly tighten.

First you should check the oil plug and filter to make sure the plug was tightend on tight and the oil filter to make sure that is fit tight. If either one of these is not tight it will make the car leak like crazy. If you had a crack oil pan the mechanic should have told you that when you had the oil changed.

Loosen the alternator belt, then remove the two bolts that hold the alternator to the engine block, one is on the top right corner of the alternator and the other is at the bottom right on the back.
You will have to remove the engine mount bolt, then you can jack up the engine in order for the alternator to fit between the intake manifold and the firewall.

if it dont have an auto spring you need to loosen the bolts on the alternator and swing it in toward the engine,fit the belt then swing it out to tighten the belt before you do up the alt bolts NOT TOO TIGHT,

There are 2 bolts on the front bottom one on the back upper corner. Once removed you 2 pry bars one on ech side and it should come right out they fit tight in the bracket

All motor mounts need to be removed and jack the engine up till it almost hits the cowl.
