I have a 2002 volvo c70. with 68K miles.
the transmission hesitates before it engages into gear. sometimes it feels like it is in neutral while driving then it slams into gear. Steve
it may be the Transmission Speed Sensor since it sounds like you are driving a vehicle with an Automatic Transmission. The sensor communicates the RPMs to the PCM so that it knows what gear to be in, when to shift as well as locking up the clutches with the torque Converter. Hope that is the issue and that I was able to help.it may be the Transmission Speed Sensor since it sounds like you are driving a vehicle with an Automatic Transmission. You may even consider checking the Transmission Fluid level before buying parts. Bring it up to running temperature by driving it, Set the parking brake and shift the Transmission into Neutral. Transmission will not go forward or backwards and if full of fluid. Possible bad shifter cable of shift collar or internal transmission problems. Look under car where the shifter cable is hooked to the transmission. Does it move when the lever is moved into the different gear locations?
No hubs on 2002 Chevy 2500. I'd check the front axle actuator (engages front axle when 4WD is engaged). Belive it's on the passage side axle tube of front differential. Could be wrong, but that's what it sounds like. Or the front ring/pinion is shot. They don't turn when not in 4wd.
run the fault codes and look for a faulty torque converter clutch solenoid /servo and a problem TCM unit. A service if not done in the last 60.000 miles would also help.
I feel you should go to a reputable mechanic. Ask for him to check it out. this could be a serious problem but maybe not. Get it checked before you lose all drive power.
This is a software problem but there are a few other components involved as well. Most dealers will try and convince you that the transmission have to be replaced which is not the solution.
I have been trying to solve a similar problem with my car and I found the mass airflow sensor can cause this. I recently found that the accelerator pedal is sending confusing signals to the ecu and this also causes problems like this.
I have a training procedure from Aison Warner that can also solve this problem. Contact me at [email protected] if you have not solved the problem and I can give you some more information
It could be the fuel pressure regulator valve is at fault. Maybe its time to have a fuel pressure diagnostic run along with having the injectors flushed. How is the transmission fluid level looking, check it on the transmission dipstick whilst the engine is running (have someone engage 'drive' while both the parking and foot brakes are engaged). If it is brown and low replace the transmission filter and top up with fresh fluid
Make sure you have the right transmission fluid chrysler has a special type of trasmission fluid I believe it ATF+4. change the fluid and filter and the add three quarts of ATF+4 and one quart of "Lucas transmission slip. This should fix the problems. Mike
well its always recommended every 3000 miles to change the oil if you are using mobil1 full synthetic oil then every 5000 miles transmission i recommend every 45000 miles 60000 mile should be radiator fluid, power steering, fuel filter if trans hasnt been done then transmission
sorry to say you will need a transmission. This car has a general motors transmission and they are very costly in labor to remove, not too many trans shop even want to wok on them only the dealers.well over $3000
