I have a 1997 blazer 4.3 had a bottom end knock, I got a 1995 short block and used my heads and crank sensor ring and sensor. the truck will start then die. sometimes it like hickups and turn half a stroke in reverse rotation after it sits for about 2 seconds. timing is dead on point. I cant figure why it wont start and stay running

What about the fuel filter????? Have you changed it out??? If you can spary something like a started fluid, that means it is a fuel problem. My last check, it has to be above 50-psi on the fuel pressure to make it run right. I had 35psi, but whould not get over 30mph or down hill maybe 45mph. Check both filter & pressure, but check pressure with a New fule filter!!!!

try bypassing the oil pressure switch on the back of the block behind the distributor, if there oil pressure switch goes bad it will do this. had one that drove me nuts trying to fix it then figured out I had to buy a book and low and behold thee it was 3 wire oil pressure switch you can't see between the engine and fire wall just behind the distributor and costs 8 bucks to buy new.

do not think alarm would cause this do you have a check engine light on?? there is a coolant temp sensor that reports to pcm it could be out of range you need to hook vehicle to a scanner and check the temp that is being reported by coolant sensor when cold and when hot also may want to look at mass air flow sensor also have you even thought of ignition module what symptoms you have sounds just like an ignition module problem
