Brake lamps dead
fuses are fi
brake lamps shorted, they short, remove them both
then put back 1 new one, see if one works.
collision damage behind or rust lamp socket.
switch adjusted correctly, many need to be installed then in adjusted
wiring open or shorted.
why do all that, use a volt meter. ? a $20 even sold in walfart
x2 dont hack it.
sold both mine log ago, but not the books. drove this 250k each
a given 2 new brake lamps, gee.?
using a meter, go to the brake switches 2 pins
meter black to ground
meter volts mode, red test lead to switch pin 1, 12vdc keyon, or fuse blown!!! or wire cut. to ignition. power feed.
ok switch has power, brake switch. key on.
step on brakes, pin 2 goes to:
12v good (with in 1/2 a volt of actual battery voltage)!!
6v bad. shorts any thing less than 10v, bad. shorts
easy no?
0v bad, switch bad, or not ADJUSTED LIKE THE BOOK SAID.
LETS PLAY 12VDC GOOD above, FOOT ON BRAKE NEXT.
So you find and follow that brake wire to the rear.
Wire are just highways for electrons. (insulated too)
when the volts goes to 0v , bingo, bad connector or the wire cut in 1/2.
look for TRAILER wiring HACKs, a top cause of stock wiring
*****,.
Here is a link to the wiring diagrams, trace down the problem. Don't cut up the electrical, that always turns out bad
